Recently I visited a friend who had an enticing pot full of black bean and butternut squash chili cooking away on the stovetop in a (flame) Le Creuset French Oven. I was so envious of her beautiful pot! I went home and promptly perused Chefs Catalogue website and read comments on various Le Creuset pieces. The 5 quart buffet casserole seemed a very versatile piece with which to begin my collection. Love it! My next purchase will be a French Oven. My only regret is that I've gone so many years without Le Creuset in my life. Fantastic cookware!

This pan gave a beautiful crust to pan-fried potatoes. It produced a wonderful sear with great fond to chicken breasts, which I turned into a tasty pan sauce. I have used the pan to sear a tri-tip and then finish it in the oven. It came out wonderfully moist with plenty of drippings. The lid is heavy enough to keep in all the moisture. I cooked a slew of sausages and they turned out crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle. I have several other Le Creuset pieces, but this one is rapidly becoming one of my favorites. Remember to use medium to low heat and the food will release when it is cooked.

I have many Le Crueset pots and by far this is the one I love the most. It has only been in my possesion a short time and already I have used it 3 times. I have made a Jambalaya,Pasta and a Paella in it and all have come out perfectly. I love the capacity and the depth of it and certainly plan to use it often. I can cook and serve in it and it looks very nice on my table. thanks

It just doesn't get any better than this. The size is absolutely perfect. It cooks evenly and retains the heat. It is just beautiful as well. I LOVE THIS PAN.

I have a lot of gourmet kitchen vessels, but I must say that this buffet casserole is one of my favorites. I braise chicken, cook it in wine with vegetables, serve in it, refrigerate it, reheat it in the oven, and put it in the dishwasher. I also love this casserole for risotto that does not have to be nursed the entire time that it is cooking. My husband loves the fact that it cleans up beautifully. This is a must have for the cook.

I love all of the Le Crueset pieces. I can't pick a favorite. I will be handing these down to my children. The quality is amazing. This piece is so versatile. I use it on my stove top, my oven and onto the table. There are no cons. Amazing. Love, love, love my Le Crueset!

I had wanted this casserole for a long time but the question really was did I need it or just want it. Well let me tell you I really did need it!!! It is a wonderful piece of cookware and with it's size you can cook almost anything roasts, soup, casseroles, and chinese. And even though it is not non-stick it cleans like a dream. It would be the first piece of cookware that I would replace if something happened to our house.

Le Creuset has an extremely prestigious reputation, and it confirms it anytime one of their products are used. This particular pan is extraordinarily versatile, as you can make anything from french toast to prime rib in it. It works just as well in the oven as on the stove, as the handle is proof up to 400 degrees (F), so it is perfect for braising. What really surprised me is how easy it is to clean. Though it is technically not non-stick, the enameled finish cleans very easily, partially as a result of how consistently the heat is distributed while cooking. High heat is never necessary with these cast iron-cored pans, as the heat distribution is perfect.
If you only can afford one pan from Le Creuset, this is a good candidate, due to the versatility it afford.

So worth the money!! I use this for making risotto, fried chicken, marinara sauce, paella, chicken cacciatorie, and pretty much any pasta dish you could imagine. It is also great to saute big batches of vegetables too. It has such even heat distribution that it will brown food evenly without hot spots. It also can be taken right from the stove to the table; it looks gorgeous!! No need for a seperate serving dish.

I have the flame red buffet casserole and I absolutely love it! I picked it as a birthday present last year and am so glad I did. The heat retention and distribution is so much better than my other nonstick cookware. There is plenty of room for cooking things like pork tenderloin medallions, and not having to do two batches. It's a pretty heavy dish, but very sturdy and well made.

This is a wonderful dish! My sister-in-law has the same one and we had a contest to see how many dinners we could create in just one pot. We were able to make 20! In just one pot! It does a great job of braising, simmering, frying and anything else you can think of! I have a lot of different pots and pans but this is my overall favorite and is worth every penny.

My family loves this piece! I use this shallow baking dish to make one-pot pasta meals. I combine dried pasta, a couple jars of pasta sauce (along with diced tomatoes in their juice), and diced ham and plop it in the oven for 45 minutes...pasta is perfectly cooked! Easy cleanup too!

If you're any kind of cook, you have to own at least one Le Creuset in your kitchen. This pan is fantastic for making risotto, braising, and slow cooking in the oven or on top. It's the pan you will own for years and pass down to your children and beyond.
