A gift that's a keeper.
December 3, 2007 trikkerchickfrom santa cruz, ca.
"I admit I was a bit skeptical when I received the griddler/panini press as a gift. My immediate thoughts were here is another appliance that will take up valuable space on the small counter area in my kitchen. Surprisingly it has turned out to be one of the most used appliances in the kitchen (right up there with the toaster) and now resides in a place on honor with easy accessablity. It works great, is easy to clean up and yes, it is a multi-tasker! Even better for those kitchens with limited counter spaces like mine. Thanks Diane for the wonderful gift. I think of you with every panini I make."

Every Which Way!
October 25, 2007 Momcatfrom Delmont, PA
"Run, do not walk to get this griddler! Ever try to turn a quesadilla without messing it up and the filling come out? This griddler makes it easy because you don't have to flip it. Paninis, grilled sandwiches, pancakes, bacon, chicken, burgers, salmon, shrimp skewers - it keeps getting better. It's quick, heats evenly, unsnaps and comes clean easily. The griddler makes it easy to be creative - you'll find a new use for it every day!"

Why did I wait so long to purchase??
June 10, 2008 Sassyolassiefrom Rio Rancho, NM
"I hummed and hawed over this "can't live without" griddle for a long time. It takes only minutes to cook fish, chicken, burgers on sear. I now go beyond my basic recipes for fish and poultry. Grilled sandwiches are fun and easy. The floating hinge easily accomidates thick pannis. The cooking plates are easily removed for cleaning. Use the scrapper tools included with the unit.; makes for a fast clean up You can't go wrong with this griddle; buy it now!!!"

Best Thing Since Sliced Bread
May 19, 2008 AuntieLaLafrom Minneapolis, MN
"I am a new "cook" just learning to have fun in the kitchen, and this appliance has helped push me over the edge. It is easy to use and more importantly- easy to clean! You can do anything with this thing, Paninis, bacon & eggs, Pancakes, chicken, fish, veggies... I live in a small downtown apartment and do not have the option to have an outdoor grill... so this makes my food presentation lovely as well as helps make my food healthy by draining the fat. A perfect 10!"

Not another piece of stuff
May 19, 2008 emptynesterfrom salem,massachusetts
"Two years ago my son moved back home so he could go to school for his Master's. He had been living on his own for quite a while ,so with him came all of his stuff. In his stuff was a Cuisinart Griddler. What a wonderful machine. We use it constantly and clean-up is very quick. Sunday breakfast is a breeze. So easy we often have breakfast for dinner. Now two years later my son has graduated, found a job ,and will soon be moving to Maine. We are happy for his success but when he moves he is taking his griddler. We will miss him but I think we might miss his griddler more."

Great when it works
May 18, 2008 Pickycookfrom Los Angeles area
"I bought this grill....twice. Worked great, cleaned easily, loved it until it stopped working. A plastic "handle" broke on the first one after 1 use. I returned it for another which quit heating on the 4th use. Ever hopeful, I will try once more. However, reviews on other sites, remind me not to get my hopes up. Hopefully, Cuisinart will get this grill right eventually."

My Favorite Gift
May 18, 2008 LadyPetitefrom Ponca City, OK
"I love my new Cuisinart Griddler!! My first day with it, I cooked our family favorite for breakfast....Cinnamon Raisin Bread French Toast. At first, I did not think that even lying flat it would cook 8 slices at once, but I was delightfully wrong. For once, I did not have to keep jumping up and down during breakfast to check on additional slices cooking. They were all ready at once. That evening I prepared grilled chicken breasts. I was able to finalize the rest of our meal without having to worry that the chicken was burning."

2 Years Old and It's still the best Griddler made
May 18, 2008 Golfpinehurstfrom Pinbehurst, NC
"I would recommend this to a single, like myself or a large family for fast easy, done just right cooking! I bought this when they first came out and have used it for countless cooking. Salmon is my favorite and the clean up is the easiest as plates just slide out. When Grandchildren come they love to have me make every meal on it so they can help Grammy."

This is the BEST
May 17, 2008 MsCookinfrom Ohio
"I have tried several different brands of small grills and ended up hating them after the first use. When I purchased the Cuisinart Griddler, I crossed my fingers in hopes that it would work according to it's description. Needless to say, this is the BEST small electric appliance that I have. I love this grill. I can cook almost anything on it...and I can remove the grill and wash it. Kudos Cuisinart!! You can not go wrong purchasing this grill."

Great Gift
May 17, 2008 klfedfrom Virginia
"The Cuisinart Griddler was our daughter's birthday gift. She was living at home at the time, so it sat by the stove and got frequent use. We loved the panini she made, but also the potato pancakes and other tasty treats. She recently moved to an apartment, and we were sad to see the Griddler go with her.!"

Best Griller/Panini Press Ever
May 17, 2008 crcj1024from Coconut Creek, FL
"I got this as a gift for Christmas. I must say that the versatility and compactness of this machine is the best I have compared with the other comparable products. Easy adjustments for temperatures and take up very little space. If you cannot have a BAR-B-Q grill, you'll find that this is the next best product. It is fast heating cutting back on the cooking time. Meats are juicy and tender. I tried grilling vegetables. Results = Excellent. Eggs, pancakes and bacon done with the same results. I keep it out so that it is handy."

Worth the $$$
May 17, 2008 Nenefrom Dover,PA
"Let me just say, I'm a gadget person. However, most of the items I buy are only good for one thing. The Cuisinart Griddler is one of the best and most used items in my kitchen. It makes perfect pancakes and fried eggs on the griddle and the best grilled chicken and paninis on the grill/panini press. I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially to busy moms (with the easy control temperature knobs, it's easy to quickly turn down the heat and tend to a crying baby without burning your food)."

Great at first, but does not last...
May 17, 2008 cheflewiefrom Dallas
"I bought the Griddler in February of 2005 and have taken care to ensure it lasts. The Griddler is heavy and sturdily constructed. It heats up quickly, and cleans up even faster. We have used it for panini, grilling meat, and toasting burger buns. The unit can be used either as a panini/grill press with the floating top or opened up to use as a griddle.
The base of the unit heats up and maintains temperature better than the top. This creates uneven toasting of the Panini or other items. It's not so much of a problem using as a griddle, since one side will simply cook faster than the other.
After a year the nonstick surface has started pealing off of the grill plates. I have never used metal on the nonstick surface and have taken great care to preserve the finish. Perhaps it is in the design or a fate of nonstick coated products in general, but the now I will have to take care not to get pieces of the nonstick surface in my food.
The Griddler comes with interchangeable dishwasher safe griddle and grill plates with a lock and release system that is intuitive to use. The plates easily release with the press of a button for cleaning. To place the plates back on the Griddler, one simply rests the plates in the groves located towards the rear or bottom and snaps the front or top into place. The plates don't consistently stay attached in the top section like they once did. It's very annoying trying to reposition a hot plate back into place.
On the surface, the Griddler has the looks and design to be a great product. Cuisinart has some bugs to work out to attain even heating and plates that last. If I were to buy a new panini press, I would not look to Cuisinart again. As a matter of fact, I now enjoy using a Breville 800GRXL Indoor Barbeque and Grill instead.
PROS: Heavy and sturdily construction Heats up and cleans quickly
CONS: Non-stick surface does not last Uneven heating"

Average...George Forman is better
May 17, 2008 bets9from New York, NY
"At first I really liked this grill and its removable plates. However, as time went on I felt that the removable plates actually made it much harder to clean. You have to wait for them to cool to clean and that just made things crust. I've tried many different methods of cleaning and they just aren't working out, also because the grills are so close together it's hard to clean in between. There is also the fact that it is a rather flat surface so the fat does not drip out as well as in the George Forman grill. The only good thing is that it does lay out flat so that you can have extra surface to cook things on and can also be cooking things on the griddler and the grill at the same time."

Best Purchase of all time
May 17, 2008 tinkermelfrom Madisonville,KY
"I bought this griddler about a year ago, and it is the BEST item of all the things i have ever purchased for my kitchen. It is easy to use, simple clean up, and since i rarely get to grill outside, this is perfect, and also perfect for cooking pretty much anything, i love it, and wish it came in a super large size, i would be the first one to buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Grillin' on the Griddler
April 27, 2008 Gr8whitefrom Aurora, CO
"This appliance works quite well and is much easier to clean than other units without removable plates. It took me a few tries to get it dialed in, but once I did, things came out well. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I was hoping it could replace the outdoor grill, but it did not. Outdoor grills still impart superior flavor. I am, however, glad I purchased it. It excels at pancakes and other items that are best cooked on a griddle."

Love it!
April 15, 2008 JudiBfrom Forest City, NC
"This is a great product. I use it every day from breakfast to dinner. I mostly use the grill plates for everything from low fat hash browns to grilled vegetables. The other plates are great for sandwiches and grilling where you want the fat to drain off and leave grill marks on the surface of the food. The plates are a breeze to clean."

Happy with my griddler
April 11, 2008 Maurafrom Boston, MA
"I received this as a gift. I was a George Foreman user and this beats old George hands down. The removable plates are great and easy to clean.
Two design recommendations that impact users -- The dials are hard to read on the front, particularly when the darn thing is hot and there is something sizzling on it. The second recommendation is to be careful not to burn yourself, the top of the griddler gets very hot on the outside... be sure to use the handle,"
