Slow Cooker October 26, 2007
Cilantro from Lincoln, MA

"Of all the items I have purchased through Chefs Catalog, this is one of my very favorites. Considering myself a serious chef, I used to sneer at those who actually considered slow cookers a legitimate kitchen tool. Alas, I have eaten those words (pun intended). I have received accolades from many a guest and family member for dishes I have prepared in my Euro -Pro slow cooker. Baby back ribs, beef short ribs, Brazilian brisket... With the many cookbooks out there now devoted to slow cooking the possibilities and creativity are endless. I hightly recommend it."

Just think you should know!! September 8, 2008
unhappy from Long Island, New York

"I have had this slow cooker for 2 years and loved it. I used it frequently expecially since I found a blog online "Crockpot cooking for 365 days" . But the other day I went to take it out of my cabinet and both handles fell off causing the pot to fall to the floor. Of course the ceramic insert smashed! I couldn't believe it!! Be careful. I never expected to have this happen. I am now going to buy a different product with handles attached with screws. The handles on this product appear to be glued on!"

Adequate but not great November 15, 2007
ionized from Worcester, MA

"I was underwhelmed by the quality when I received the product. The button panel is warped and peeling in places, as though the overlay were sloppily applied. Also, brushed metal finishes are impossible to keep tidy, and once stained, require special cleaning to restore their original finish. This isn't a concern for me, but if you're worried about how your appliances look, consider something in a lacquer or plastic finish.
The ceramic internal container is sturdy, and makes an attractive serving piece. At seven quarts, it is heavy and unwieldy to wash, but that will be a difficulty with any slow cooker of this capacity.
The lid fits exactly as it should for a crockpot--snugly, but does not seal entirely. It is heavy enough that steam, even on the highest cook setting, will not budge it, but light enough that it's easy to use.
The programmed settings allow you to select from three cooking temperatures and a warming temperature, and the time can be set in half-hour increments. It will shift to warming mode after the cook time runs out. It lacks the capacity for a delayed start, or to set multiple cooking temperatures in advance, making the "programmable" boast rather hollow. Also, and this is probably just my peculiar taste, I was extremely annoyed that it does not auto-start a few seconds after being programmed. If you do not hit "start," it will sit there merrily forever waiting.
It also came with a miniature crockpot, for heating dips or snack-sized fondues. I have not had an opportunity to try the smaller pot, but the inner ceramic liner does not come out, and thus I suspect it will be difficult to clean.
Overall, I'm satisfied, but I'm also glad I didn't pay the so-called regular price. This is a fine $50 appliance, but not an $80 one."

Made me love slow cooking! October 5, 2007
Sara from Colorado Springs, CO

"It was my first slow cooker and I am now a big fan. First of all. it is stylish and very easy to use. It will automatically go into keep warm mode if the time runs out while you are out and about. I was initially worried because the lid appeared to not fit snuggly on the top, but it hasn't been a problem. A great buy for the price!"
