So far the testing has all been positive. I puchased two of these butter crocks because it seemed a good idea to have a spare waiting when you emptied the first one.
My package arrived on time, very well packed and undamaged. I took a stick of butter out to warm to room temp while I washed the crocks.
Once they were washed, I packed the butter in very tightly with the back of a spoon, hopefully eliminating the channce of the butter falling out into the water. I put about 1/3-1/2 cup cold water in the bottom and put the butter in.
So far this crock has worked like a charm...I've changed the water three times and the butter is maintaining a nice yellow color and a texture that is absolutely perfect.
It remains to be seen how this will perform during the hot summer months...I don't like air conditioning and very seldom turn it on, so that could be a problem. We'll see this summer and update my review if necessary.

I got this for my mother as a Christmas present because my brothers make a mess out of our butter stick we usually have. She loved it! And lovedd the red color so it matched the rest of our dishes! I couldn't find any that I liked in stores and the ones that had them at all were SO expensive, this was a great purchase!
Mom also appreciated the Chefs catalog that came in the box with it!

This is one kitchen item that pleased me so much, I bought several as gifts, and also have one for our camper. Being in the South, and having so much heat, it's a 'must have.' It keeps the butter nice and is roomy enough for one stick. Plus, it's a nice looking addition to the table.

This was a gift purchase for my Daughter-in-law. She is an accomplished cook and has wanted one of these for some time. Her idea came from ours. We have owned a Butter Bell Crook for a number of years and have thoroughly enjoyed having and using it. It keeps butter well and nice and soft for spreading. In the warmer climes and times (summer in Sacramento CA) you must pay attention to refreshing the cold water at least every other day. We're a household of two so larger families probably don't need to worry. Enjoy nice spreadable butter without the added cost.

This Butter Bell is small, attractive, and works like a charm. The butter is kept soft and fresh! Easy to clean as well. I would recommend it to anyone who needs more room in the frig, and soft, spreadable butter!

This product would be good, if the softened butter wouldn't fall into the water at the base of the crock. When you turn something upside down, gravity alone will make it drop. What good is the butter if it's sitting in water?

This item is a luxury! Butter stays fresh and soft outside of the fridge because it is contained in a crock with water. The water keeps the butter air tight and, therefore, fresh! The crock holds only one stick of butter at a time but for me it is perfect because I live alone and not with a family. I chose the color red and it is wonderful! In the morning, I can spread soft butter on toast. Before I got this crock, I tried to spread cold butter out of the fridge but that only ripped the bread. Not anymore. This is a great old-fashioned invention that works wonders. We don't think about a simple thing like butter in the course of the day but now it's a pleasure to experience butter soft and yummy whenever I have bread. I highly recommend this item !

Item was different than I thoughtit would be, my error, should have read the description better. It doe's the job it was intended for What I don't like is that you have to soften the butterto place it in the holding container. For some reason I though you loaded the container with a block of butter. It does work as it is described. I have an older model of this item and you put a stick of butter in a oblong shaped container. ( 1/4 lb.)I thought this would hold more.

I love spreadable butter but hate any sort of butter substitute. On top of that, I tend to eat a lot of grainy breads and muffins I prefer untoasted but I always had the problem of chunky bits of cold butter. This is so perfect for me! I can evenly spread REAL butter on my bread without tearing each slice. Plus, the crock itself is adorable and looks great on the kitchen table next to the jams and whatnot for breakfast. Buy one and while you're at it, get one for a friend! They will love you for it.

A Butter Bell!!! These have been used since before refrigeration. I'm glad to see a comeback on this unique item. Butter is fantastic when kept in this Crock. Easy to spread on even the softest of breads. I originally received one as a gift, and I'm slowly buying more for all of my friends. A practical everyday item and a neat gift.

We hate hard butter, but leaving it out was not an option either. This butter bell is awesome, the butter is as white as the day you first open it and it is always ready to spread.

I do not purchase spreadable margarines, only real butter. I had been placing the butter in the microwave to soften in order to spread easily, but most of the time ended up with melted butter. Although the instructions recommend changing the water every 2 to 3 days, I add fresh water to my crock daily.

I love this butter bell crock!!! I've wanted one for years and finally got one. It does not disappoint. I have fresh, soft butter all the time. No more waiting for it to soften and it going bad from sitting or over melting in the microwave.

We've used butter bells before and there is no better way to serve butter than at room temperature. The butter spreads easily, smoothly and just as it should.
The bell works perfectly - we change the water every 2 days or so to help keep it fresh. The ceramic quality is great and we look forward to using this butter bell for years to come.

No more aggravating hard butter for my toast in the morning. Container keeps the better fresh so long as instructions are followed. Wished these butter bells would hold two sticks of butter.
The top does not fit as tightly as I would wish, but does the job.

Love it, love it, love it!! Both my husband and I love the Butter Bell. We like our butter soft enough to spread but not so soft it melts when we get one of those rare 90 + degree days in Maine. The Butter Bell solves all our "butter" problems. And...it looks great also!

There are few things worse than hard butter on toast etc. The butter stays completely fresh and spreadable. Needs to be packed with soft butter having the same consistency to insure it stays in the "bell". Other than that, works as advertised.
