This is the best ice cream maker I've ever used. My issue has always been remembering to freeze the container when I want to make ice cream (my freezer isn't big enough to keep it in there all the time). No freezing required with this unit!
Works great! Truly love it.

Great Ice Cream Maker!

I received this ice cream maker as a Christmas gift and could not wait to try it out. I made the vanilla ice cream recipe included with the maker and it turned our really well. I can't wait to try other recipes and my own concoctions. The only reason I gave this four stars was because of the clear plastic lid - it cracked slightly the first time I assembled the unit and I felt it could have been made more durable. Similarly, the paddles are plastic, but they seem to work great! I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for an affordable good quality ice cream maker!

My wife got this for me for Christmas. It is very easy to use and clean up is a breeze. The fact is all that it takes to make great ice cream is cream, sugar and vanilla. In about a half hour you have fantastic ice cream. I recomend this machine to any serious icecream lover

The Cuisinart Supreme Ice Cream Maker ICE-50BC would not freeze the mixture at all. This had not been my experience with prior Cuisinart products I have purchased.
Another issue is the location of the name plate containing the serial number--located on the bottom of the unit. The machine had warnings not to place on side or upside down. If so, wait 24 hours prior to use. The ice cream maker is heavy, and to access the information on the name plate, the machine needs to be tipped on its side. I waited over 48 hours to make a batch of ice cream but the mixture went in at 36 degrees F and after 80 minutes was at 58 degrees F.
There was no sign of shipping damage, so the machine was probably defective when it left the factory a sign of poor quality control for a unit this expensive.

Thi Ice cream machine I received does not work. I tried it 3 times and the only place it was freezing after 4 or 5 minutes was directly on the bottom (nothing on the sides). It would freeze so hard that the paddle would stop turning. Each time I had to pull the bucket out - pour up the ingredients and start over. Finally I just poured it in a covered container and placed it in the freezer, stiring every 15 minutes. At last it got so hard I could not get any to eat.

The first thing I did with my new ice cream maker was make some watermelon sorbet. It was so simple ! I love the fact that it is a self-contained unit, and doesn't need pre-freezing at all. I plugged it in, poured in my mixture, and set the timer. Fifty minutes later I had soft-set sorbet that was delicious. Fast, easy, and very refreshing. The leftovers I just popped in the freezer for another day. I'm thrilled with my purchase. And you can't go wrong with a name like Cuisinart. Now I can't wait to make some ice cream.

I bought this ice cream make because it did not require pre-freezing any parts. I got it just in time for fresh strawberry season and went crazy. It is very easy to use. I made Strawberry ice cream, frozen yogurt and sherbert in one afternoon and they all came out great! I wish there were more recipes included with the machine but there are plenty available on the internet. It was a little more expensive that the other machines but worth every penny

This is so easy to use, makes an excellent creamy ice cream. Others do not turn out such a good product. I make my ice cream with Splenda, whole milk and a little cream, as i have lost over 100 lbs and want to keep it off. It is very heavy and a little on the noisy side. You can make very low calorie desserts, Also absoulty decanent desserts like Margareta ice ceram.
I mixed in the chiller bowl and used an emerasble hand blender, VERY BAD IDEA. i put a small hole in the bottom, It was still useable if i chilled it before adding the liquids.
I called CUININART and they replaced the bowl at no cost!
They pay for return shipping too if an item does not work. Looking into bread machines i found the very, very expencive comany that starts with a Z, does NOT pay for return shipping when an item does not work.. I would highly reccomend the maker and company.
Pros: Cord length, Easy to Clean/Wash, Value for Money, quality, Material, Fast/ Speed, Warranty, easy to use, construction, Appearance/ Design /Style, Performs Well, durability, Functional/Useful, Long-lasting, Easy to view/Read, capacity, good diet aid, saves money if you like ice cream

I like the machine. It worked as presented. It is no louder than my other electric ice cream machine. The differences are no ice to pack, no salt to add to the ice, no messy clean-up afterwards. Most of all, I was pleased at the texture of the ice cream. The ice cream texture was just as good the next day, not hard frozen.

Creamy & Smooth frozen treats-effortlessly

The Cuisinart Supreme Ice Cream Maker ICE-50BC produces very smooth ice cream, sherbet and my personal favorite, sorbet, effortlessly. Just add chilled ingredients, tun on the machine and walk away. It will automatically stop when the frozen treat is at the perfect consistency. My very first batch was a keeper, and enjoyed by several friends and co-workers.
I find the size quite compact, considering the unit houses its own freezer compressor, eliminating and need to keep churning bowls in the freezer like other less sophisticated machines. While I find the compressor to run surprisingly quiet, I have to agree with the other reviewers that the churning paddle drive motor is a bit noisy, and I would consider this to be the unit's only drawback that I have found to date. Perhaps Cuisinart could redesign this paddle motor drive arm and offer it to its existing ICE-50BC purchasers as an update to the machine. I've already made enough sorbet to practically pay for the machine, with the grocery store price of sorbet nearly $5.00/ pint in my area.
I believe I've made a sound purchasing decision with the
Cuisinart Supreme Ice Cream Maker ICE-50BC, and would recommend it to others.

Great fun and even better sorbet

I grow blueberries; lots of blueberries in my hobby orchard. I have always wanted to make my own home-made blueberry sorbet without preservatives, etc, but would not ever consider the fussing around with salt & ice or even the pre-freezing of the churning bowls. The Cuisinart Supreme Ice Cream Maker ICE-50BC is just what I was looking for. With its built in refrigeration compressor, just plug it in, turn it on, prepare your ingredients, pour them into the churning bowl, place churning motor arm and mixing paddles on top of the machine and off you go. Creamiest sorbet I've ever eaten. I have a milk intolerance and won't be making ice cream, but I can imagine how smooth and creamy it would be if its anything like my sorbet....mmm! Can also be used for making summer-time drinks on those hot, muggy days. And best of all, when the sorbet is ready, you merely add more ingredients and begin the process again..immediately. No pre-freezing; no waiting.
I must add, though, I have to agree with the other reviewers...the churn paddle mixing motor IS on the noisy side...the compressor itself is reasonably quiet, just the opposite of what I was expecting from reading the reviews.
