The cornsticks are baked perfectly with the Lodge pans. They are a great size for dipping in chili (or whatever else suits your fancy). The pans were smaller than we expected, so you should be aware of the dimensions when ordering and possibly consider ordering a larger quantity to accomodate the amount of batter/number of cornsticks you expect to need.
Sent this to my sister-in-law in England as she could not find a cast iron cornbread pan over there. She was quite surprised to receive it as a Christmas gift. She says it makes terrific cornbread and the nonstick surface is easy to clean after wards. She especially likes the fact that Lodge is made in the USA and not abroad.
These really do make great corn bread sticks- and they are cute as the dickens, too! Not cheap, but if you season them well they will probably last forever. My husband in the chef at our historic inn in southern WV (The Elkhorn Inn & Theatre) and he got these and several other pieces last year & is Very pleased with them. He Loves cast iron cookware- and these were just Too cute! Remember to keep them oiled, and not to scrub them and leave them wet or they will rust! (But they can be cleaned and reseasoned if they do).
These cornstick pans are adorable! They are durable and cook the bread evenly. The unique shape adds quite a dimension to the table and really catches the eye of the guests. I would highly recommend these pans - and don't just get one...you'll certainly need several in order to make enough delicious bread to satisfy your guests' requests for seconds and more!

Disappointed

I was very excited to find these cornstick pans since they reminded me of my childhood. The instructions said that they did not have to be seasoned as the old cast-iron pans used to be, so I sprayed them as instructed and cooked some cornbread. They stuck so badly that I could not get the sticks out and after soaking for 12 hours could barely clean out the pans. So disappointed!
Pros: Value for Money, Appearance/ Design /Style
Cons: Performance, Difficult to Clean/Wash

Great Pan, but VERY SMALL

I purchased the mini pan thinking that the large pan was going to be the size of a corn cob, but I was wrong! The mini pain is VERY SMALL, and was disappointed in the size. It is so small that it difficult to fill (it takes practice to get the perfect amount in the pan), and you have to do a million batches to use all of your batter. However, it made great cornbread!! I used my same old recipe and my husband said that it was the best cornbread ever. I would definitely recommend to spend the extra money and get the large pan!!!
Pros: Easy to Clean/Wash, even cooking, construction, durability
Cons: Capacity, size

Mini is just too small.

I bought two mini pans. They functioned very well, exactly as advertised, but, although I only used a small box of Jiffy muffin mix, I would have needed a third pan to use up the batter. Maybe I'll buy that third pan, but I wish I had gotten the regular size.
Pros: Appearance/ Design /Style, durability, even cooking
I love to make cornbread in this pan. The sticks are uniform and the pan is typical of the excellent standard that Lodge created more than 100 yrs ago. Perfect for portion control.
I've been using my corn stick pans for years now. The corn bread sticks are a perfect touch in a bowl of chili and are much easier to eat than crumbly corn bread squarea. I also like the crispy on the outside finish on the sticks. After buying one pan years ago and loving it, I bought a second, since I usually want more than 7 sticks when I making them. Remember to season it, and the sticks come out easily.
I have 2 of the small size cornstick pans that are fun to use to make crunchy corn shaped sticks. I decided to get 2 because a recipe would need more than one! They're fun to make for kids or company too!
I bought my cornstick pan years ago, and I'm talking YEARS, ago and it still works great. It took a while to get it seasoned properly, but it works like a charm now. It provides a much nicer presentation than plain cut squares.
