Catalog Wrong-Product Good

This product does a good job if used as directed. The Catalog blurb is, however, very misleading. The product requires Arm & Hammer WASHING Soda not Baking Soda to work. If you use Baking Soda nothing will happen.
Heavily tarnished items will require two or three applications, but they will eventually get clean. Lightly tarnished items clean quickly (30 seconds or so).
Over all an excellent product as long as it is used correctly.

I love shiny silver but polishing takes a long time and the smell of silver polish really bothers my husband.
This is fantastic!
I hope it continues to work this well for a long time. I wish I had bought one years ago.

Even though I'm scrupulous about keeping my jewelry cleaned and stored in anti-tarnish boxes, after awhile they lose some luster. This plate restores them to mirror-bright storeroom shine. I'm stunned and delighted how nicely this works. I'm recommending this to everybody!
TIPS: Work in small batches, just 1 tsp. A&H Super Washing Soda to 11 oz hot tap water. To keep the water hot, preheat the plate by running it under hot water. After soaking the item a minute or two, brush it with a soft toothbrush and rinse in warm water, dry with soft towel. For kicks, wash one of each of several pairs earrings in a separate batch, so you can compare and admire the difference. Very good with heavily tarnished silver chains, excellent with rings you thought you were keeping clean. Brings it back to jewelry store sparkle.

OK on Stainless; Fantastic on Silver!

My daughter somehow ruined the finish on two of my stainless pots last year. I've been trying to restore it ever since, with stainless polish, elbow grease, you name it. After treatment with this cleaning plate and washing soda, they look much better!
While I had the solution going (boiling water and washing soda in a stainless sink), I thought I'd get out some small, terribly tarnished silver pieces and give them a dunk. They look fantastic! 30 seconds and a good polishing with a soft cloth and they look like new.
I definitely recommend this product. It does exactly what it says it does - IF you follow the directions!

Works like a Charm

This is AWESOME. My mother use to always clean my sterling for me (it's a chore I hate, I'd rather hide the stuff than clean it). I saw this and thought, why not give it a try. It TOTALLY works! What use to take my mother HOURS, took her and I a total of 30 minutes (I have a lot of sterling pieces). One caveat, you need a special cleaning solution, so don't think you can use it the day you get it, unless you can hunt down the required cleaner. Even with this hiccup, I give it 5 stars.

It does not work. Not even a little. Water alone works better. I followed all guidelines. Garbage. Do not ever think about this product. I cannot believe you are even selling it.

Does an excellent job. Information confusing. Mentions baking soda once and washing soda in another spot. Bicarbonate didn't work, NaCO3 works.

OK for small numbers of items that are only slightly tarnished. Actually not as fast or as thorough as normal silver polish on larger or heavily tarnished items.

Directions for use: clear and direct
Results: for lightly tarnished items, this is an easy, quick method to brighten silver.
For heavy tarnish: soak twice and be sure to keep solution at proper temperature - hot.
Smaller round plate - to be used for small items
This is a BEST BUY.

After trying this on several pieces of silverware and some old silverplate, there was no noticeable difference in the amount of tarnish on the items. The only thing that removed the tarnish was good old-fashioned elbow grease with cream silver polish.

Certainly doesn't work like the picture implies!

I'm going to try again with hotter water and more soda - but my first attempt with a piece similar to the picture did NOT give those results at all. Some tarnish came off with vigorous rubbing but I'm inclined to think it was about the same amount that would have come off in just a warm water bath and vigorous rubbing. Also a warning - you have to use this in a non-metal container so if you have a stainless steel sink consider that - you'll need a plastic tub or will have to use the bath tub.
The directions also call for "washing soda" which I am assuming is baking soda, but I might be getting that wrong to and that might be contributing to the poor performance.
If you think you are just going to dip your silver in and "presto!" you will be disappointed like me.

Just as you see in the picture, it works quickly. Heavily tarnished objects leave a black residue which rubs off easily. It gets at the impossible crevasses.

Wish the cleaning was longer-lasting

Cleaning plate does clean copper faster than polish, however, heavily tarnished pieces require longer soaking with additional solution.
Dark stains still require use of copper polish.
Not long lasting. Some pieces remain tarnish-free only for one week and then require another treatment.

I discovered that this product does not clean copper very well or very quickly. I had to "fine tune" the cleaning with another copper polish. I even called customer service to make sure I was following the directions accurately.
