Think before you buy

"Reliability is not a strong suit of this thermometer. If you are oven roasting then it may fit your needs. But, if you are grilling or smoking then Do Not buy this item. The probe is not as heat resistant as the manufacturer describes. Heat from grills and smokers severely affects the probe and burns out the coiled metal connector to the receiving unit. The result is either a bad readout or none at all. Looks great, but fails to meet your needs."

not worth the trouble

"When it works its wonderful. I have been through two units in the past 6 months. The probe suddenly stopped working on the first unit after 4 or 5 outings. Chef's replaced that unit and the second one worked fine out of the box and was put away. One month later the replacement unit had the same probe issue as the first. It would be great if it worked."
