Bought this to simplify fat separation for gravy, sauce . I always buy bigger than I need so I have 4 cup model. Two cup would need less of my overloaded storage area. Does work very well & I'm quite satisfied.

I've only used this separator once, but it worked perfectly... the glass is, as advertised, lab quality - nice and sturdy

This gravy/fat separator is of heat-resistant glass and has a graduated measurement stenciled on the side for easily viewing the volume of your stock. The top is a strainer to use if you wish to remove celery, onions, herbs from your stock. The mesh in the strainer top is easily separated from the rubber gasket for easy cleaning. It worked like a charm and is superior to my prior plastic separator which cracked during use.

A Great Gift

This was a Christmas gift to my son, who does a great deal of cooking. He was thrilled with it, in part because it was heat resistant glass. He has had other fat separaters and strainers, but all have come to a sorry end because they will not withstand high temperatures...they have a tendency of becoming disfigured!

Works well as designed. I recommend the large separator if you want to use it for soup stocks or large quantities of gravies.

I have used a couple of times, I like it because it is smaller than other models I looked at. I like the fact that it is glass instead of plastic. Easy to clean.

I have been looking for a replacement strainer/separator for some timewithout success. I was not only pleased to find this one inChefs, but it's construction (and the added strainer) far surpass my old one - which I have had for decades.

I was excited to find a large fat separator with strainer and liked the idea of glass construction. Even though the unit was well-packed, it arrived with a chip on the spout. I'll be getting my money back. Customer Service was very pleasant regarding the return.

It worked great to separate the broth from the grease for my turkey gravey, but it was a little messy, when I filled it too full.

Had great hopes for this product, but.......
The separater is nice glass, and worked fine. The strainer, which is why I purchased this product, is way too fine, clogs up too easily, and makes this process very slow. I will return to my old separater with a Tupperware strainer perched precariously on the top, and hope for no spills, as I have done for many years.

What I like about this product is that it is transparent so I can see when to stop pouring before the fat comes out. What I don't like about it is that is made of glass which makes it very slippery when coated with oil and since it is glass it is also very brittle.

Separator are usually much smaller and you need to use twice or more to get a decent amout of gravy/sauce. This separator is big enough to make enough gravy a one time. Also, the strainer is very practical.

Glass is so much better than the older model plastic ones which warped with very hot liquid.

I am very pleased with this separator. I love the 4 cup volume, the glass construction (I don't hear it crack every time I use it & it comes perfectly clean in the dishwasher), the strainer lid & that it fits in my pull-out storage drawer. The spout was a little awkward to get used to, just being at a different angle than my last one, but I'm sure I'll adjust to it. I'm so glad to have finally found a separator that seems to be made for use with hot liquids!

I have used plastic fat separators in the past - they always cracked from the heat. The glass separater is better. I love the strainer. I think the item is overpriced. I am having trouble cleaning the small spout. Still this glass separator is better than plastic any day.
