Terrific Product !
September 22, 2008 PennsylvaniaCookfrom Cabot, PA
"Amazing machine. It slices, dices, minces, purees, etc., etc. and very, very quickly. I hesitated several months before making my purchase, worrying that this would be the wrong food processor for me. Should not have waited. LOVE this machine. I'm making every cold soup possible now, while the vegetables and fruits are at their peak. My freezer is full of fresh tomato paste and sauces for this winter. This machine is very well made, easy to use and very easy to clean with the exception of the juicer. It takes a little more time and patience. A slight drawback is the size of the feed tube. If you prefer a large feedtube, I would purchase their XL model. I am extremely happy with my Magimix 5150 and my husband is thrilled eating the results."

Best food processor out there
November 9, 2007 longtimecookfrom Seattle
"I had been looking to replace my 29 year old Robot Coupe food processor.I had used it sometmes twice daily, and it still goes but was pretty beat up. When I read that Robot Coupe made the magimix,(I am hoping to get 29 years out of this one!) this is the food processor I had to have. It is quiet, powerful and attractive. With the three bowls, you have all sizes in one machine. I am thrilled with it, and you will be, too."

Pros: durability, Easy to Clean/Wash, easy to store, easy to use, Easy to view/Read, Functional/Useful, Long-lasting, multi-purpose, Performs Well, Value for Money
"I could not live without this product. I t is amazing, I can prepare brioche dough, whip up egg whites, shred just about anything. This truly is an appliance that has multi uses: it takes the place of a mixer, blender, and dough maker. I now have 3 times the counter space, due to Magimix. I wish I could go into the many numerous features of this product, but you really need to experience this product for yourself."

Magimix is worth EVERY penny!
May 15, 2009 imgigifrom Missouri
Pros: Appearance/ Design /Style, construction, durability, Easy to Clean/Wash, Fast/ Speed, Functional/Useful, Long-lasting, Performs Well, quality, Value for Money, Variety of Colors, Warranty, Weight
"Not only did I hesitate before buying a $500.00 food processor, but I tried a "cheapie" $ 40 food processor. When it burned up, I tried a little more expensive $ 60 "cheapie" food processor...which burned up when I was starting bread dough with 2 cups of flour and one cup of water. Then, I "got smart" and bought a better one off the internet - which arrived cracked and smashed. By now, I'm over $ 200.00 into saving money. Not too bright. When I REALLY got smart, I purchased the Magimix from Chef's. I LOVE IT. I was almost afraid to use it at first for fear something would go wrong...but I think we are going to be partners in the kitchen for YEARS to come. Don't hesitate and do what I did. Put your money on the right food processor."

professional grade machine
February 23, 2009 professionalcheffrom portland, oregon
"having previously worked in a professional kitchen, i was spoiled by the speed, versatility, and efficiency of the robocoupe processor. my home cuisinart was always a bit of a let down. i was delighted to discover that chef's catalog carried a home version of my beloved robocoupe. when the plastic on my cuisinart bowl recently split, i immediately ordered a magimix to replace the machine. the magimix is now the only small appliance that gets to live on my counter. i just never want to put it away! it's amazing. if you consider everything it does, there is no better value out there."

Hands down the best food processor around
January 8, 2009 Atheenfrom New Jersey
Pros: powerfull, silent, comes with a lot of accessories, easy to use, easy to clean, love the 3 sizes bowls, easy to add upgrades (fruit juicer etc), amazing warranty, looks gorgeous on the counter Cons: none. serioulsy. this machine rules.
"No other brand can hold it to the Magimix food processor. This is simply the best one out there. It's a breeze to clean, it's extremely powerfull and yet amazingly silent, comes with a lot of accessories and blades - and I love the case that comes with the accessories - makes it really easy to stay organized.
You can pretty much add any function to it by purchasing extra accessories, fruit juicer, citrus press, you name it, the magimix can do it.
I love the 3 bowls too, and I use the small one every other day to do flavored butters, sauces, mayonaises, salsas, you name it - anything that you need a smaller bowl to do.
Plus it looks really good on the counter.
I challenge you to find a better food processor out there. Seriously. I know it's quite an investment, but you won't regret it for a second. Personally I wonder what took me so long."

Powerful Machine
January 8, 2009 Mariefrom Scottsdale, AZ
Pros: powerful, ease of attaching bowl & lid Cons: feed tube size, manufacturer customer service response
"Very powerful machine and of solid construction. I received this as a Christmas gift, from my daughter. I have owned 3 Cuisinart food processors over the past approximately 28 years, upgrading size & power each time. All worked fine when replaced but the bowl lid on my latter model had been redesigned & extremely difficult to get into place. I was very disappointed on the size of the feed tube on the Magimix 5150, and hope that the book is correct, showing a large feed tube accessory being available. I hope in the future the size of the feed tube is in the description. You can't tell by the picture because of the angle. I don't know of a single person who wouldn't prefer the larger feed tube, especially at this quality & price point."

worth the wait!!!
January 8, 2009 sairfrom chicago
Pros: 3 sizes of bowls, extra accessories included, strong yet quiet motor Cons: small feed tube, food can get stuck between blade and feed tube
"I've wanted this food processor for over a year, and after dropping hints to my family, my mother gave me one the week before Thanksgiving. I can't believe how much time and effort I saved with the Magimix! I do all the cooking for the holidays and have used smaller food processors in the past, the constant emptying of the bowl or stalling of the motor always slowed me down. Not so with the Magimix, the large size bowl has the perfect capacity for large quantities of food, from grating over 15 pounds of cheddar cheese, to chopping onions, the capacity and motor could handle it all! Prep work that usually took upwards of two hours took less than one. Another great thing is all of the accessories this model came with. You get a blade storage container, 3 slicing/ grating blades, chopping blade, whipping blade, dough blade, juicer attachment, and a citrus juicer. These accessories are more than enough to get you started with this machine. As other reviewers have stated, a small amount of food does sometimes get caught between the feed tube and blade, but I find this a small inconvenience for such a wonderful machine. Although I DID NOT have a problem with food being turned to mush as another reviewer stated. Also I did find the feed tube a little small, but you can purchase a larger one, which I plan to buy along with the other set of blades. All in all I think the Magimix is a great food processor, that is well worth the price ( although mine was a gift) I know my mother (and the rest of the family) is quite happy that she bought this for me, because I was more than happy to make a few extra holiday treats using my new toy!!!"

Great machine!
January 8, 2009 NewMomfrom DC
Pros: quiet safe versatile fast Cons: system not very practical bad for kneading
"As a new mom, I particularly enjoy the quietness and safety of this machine. When I got it, it took me a while to figure out how the machine works because of the safety mechanism but I am very grateful for it now since my son is crawling all over the place and tends to go for the most dangerous items at all times. The machine is great for all sorts of things but I would not use it for kneading any yeast-based doughs - I tried and had to finish it in the KitchenAid mixer. Another drawback is the fact that you need to use all 3 bowls if you want to use the smallest bowl (which I use it for pureeing baby food) - if you are working on anything liquid, there is always a bit of spill into the remaining two bowls and then you end up with a bit of clean up. Otherwise, I am very happy with the product - I love the fact that it is very quiet."

Solid Machine, But Not Perfect
January 8, 2009 CoffeeRoasterinVAfrom Virginia
"The Magimix, by Robot Coupe, is probably the finest food processor currently available for the home kitchen. At one time Robot Coupe made the Cuisinart, but then they switched manufacturing to China. Then they made the KitchenAid, but with the newest 12 cup models KitchenAid is making their food processors in China, now. That doesn’t mean that they aren’t fine machines, but they’re not made by Robot Coupe in France, whose reputation means a lot to most foodies. Ultimately I chose this machine for this reason, even at more than twice the price of the KA or Cuisinart.
The machine is large and heavy. I had to make room for it on the counter because it was too heavy to move back and forth from a shelf. It seems to have lots of power, and it runs smoothly and quietly. When you press one of the buttons you instantly can hear and feel the quality of this machine. I got the “chrome” model (Magimix refers to it as “brushed steel on their website and that’s much more accurate) and I really like the finish. It looks like stainless, but it cleans up much more easily. The buttons are flush with the surface, but it’s not one of those pressure pads, they are really sturdy, high quality switches that move in about a quarter inch when depressed. I think they are far superior to the types of switches found on the other major food processors.
The incredibly sharp discs do effortlessly slice through any vegetable I’ve sliced. But unless you have a bundle of celery or carrots or whatever you’re slicing that fits perfectly into the feed tube, the veggie falls over at the end, giving you irregular slices. It would be greatly improved by a two-part pusher in the feed tube—for the price they really should have added this. It should have two sizes of smaller pushers that can come out separately for two smaller sizes of food, and together for larger pieces-much larger than the current tube allows. Such an inexpensive modification would hugely improve the usefulness of the machine. The grater and shredder blades work well, and the food falling over at the end in the push tube is less of a problem with the graters. My biggest gripe with the slicer/shredder functions is the bowl design. The discs can be used with either the large bowl or the medium bowl inside the large bowl. The discs themselves are the diameter of the medium bowl, and the bowl sides create a barrier preventing large chunks from flying off the top of the disc. If you’re slicing directly into the large bowl you get irregular chunks flying off the top of the disc, not through the disc. So, you really need to use the middle bowl, and that’s the problem. It is smaller (frequently too small), and the way that it fits over the center shaft means there’s a whole in the center. When you lift it out of the larger bowl, stuff falls through into the larger bowl every time. This means cleaning both bowls. So, what’s the point of that middle bowl? The clean-up, as well as the problem of feeding either small or large pieces of food with the feed tube makes the vegetable processing with this machine impractical except when doing large quantities of certain vegetables. It has come in handy with preparing for parties and larger meals, but I wouldn’t use it for everyday slicing and vegetable prep. I do use the shredder for cheese sometimes, and I use the julienne blade for shredding cabbage for slaw.
The smaller chopper bowl is larger than most of the stand-alone mini-choppers on the market. Its larger capacity comes in handy, yet it chops really evenly with the smallest amounts. One garlic clove, as per their claim, will chop perfectly. The smaller chopper blade is as sharp as the big one. You cannot use the small chopper bowl without using the larger bowl as well. The middle bowl is optional. There is a little leakage out of the small bowl into the larger ones when using it with liquids, so you end up washing the other bowl(s) as well.
The large bowl works with all the attachments except the mini-chopper blade. The large chopper blade is extraordinarily sharp and has performed well with every task I’ve given it. I have used it primarily to cut fat into flour for pastry. It works flawlessly, my pie crusts are much improved over my had-cut ones. This was the main reason I wanted to add a food processor to my kitchen, and I’m glad I did. I am so happy I have this really large bowl for working with pastry and some doughs. It hasn’t replaced the bread machine for making most of my doughs, but that’s mostly because I’m making breads from favorite recipes specifically for a bread machine. As I try new dough recipes designed for the food processor, I find it works very well.
The middle bowl can only be used with the discs, none of the other blades fit. It really doesn't seem to be necessary, and I think if the machine were designed without it, it would be more functional, and less cluttered. It's only purpose seems to be making this a "3-Bowl" processor rather than a "2-Bowl".
The machine came with a juice extractor and a citrus juicer. They both work well. The juice extractor works as promised, but cleaning those little holes is no fun. For that reason I don’t use it as an every day juicer. But it’s worth the effort for some occasional uses, like processing some of the garden harvest. Made great hot pepper sauce! The citrus juicer is a little aggressive, but once you get the hang of it only an occasional lemon goes flying across the room. If I were making fresh orange juice every morning, I would probably find a simpler and easier-to-clean juicer, but it does come in handy now and again for making a big batch of lemonaide or a batch of lemon chess pies.
I am generally happy with the machine. The power, the build quality, and the size are all great reasons for buying this machine. If I could redesign it, I would ditch the middle bowl altogether, and make the small bowl fit directly onto the base without having to be inside the large bowl. I would replace the medium-sized feeder tube and add a two-part pusher to a larger feeder tube. Even with its problems, I’m still convinced it’s the best machine on the market, and it’s really cool having a Robot Coupe on my counter."

Great Product & Weight loss tool:)
January 8, 2009 Novicefrom Washington, D.C.
"I am a novice cook to say the least. After reading the reviews of "real cooks" for this product, I decided to buy it with the hopes that I can pay it off by bringing my lunch to work daily for a long while. And it's paying off.
Twice a week, I use my chopper to chop veggies, shred lettuce for salads, make soup, etc. It does an amazing job. Being a novice, I have nothing to compare it too. But I'm very happy, richer, and skinnier since I've been bringing lunch to work and not eating out.
My goal is to use it at least 2x a week (again, I'm a novice in the kitchen) until I know quickly how to use it without reading directions...which I'm sure the "real cooks" using this don't have to do.
Also, I'm thinking of buying the larger feeding tube. It just seems like added convenience."

High Expectations Not Quite Met
November 30, 2008 MsCooksalotfrom New Jersey
Pros: attractive, matches kitchen decor, multiple work bowls, easy to clean Cons: very narrow feed tube, have less control--from chunks to mush too fast, no hole for adding liquid stream, bottom of feed tube juts down & traps food
"Feed tube is ridiculously narrow. Requires prep work to fit food into tube. The french fry disk works great--but fries can't be longer than 2 inches due to narrow tube. Also, disagree that there is no leftover food rolling around on top of the disk when slicing/shredding. The feed tube design is poor (not flush with the underside of the lid, but extends down 1/2 inch or so), making food get caught up on the part of the feed tube that is jutting down. Takes some getting used to--food goes from big chunks into mush within a few pulses. Even another reviewer, in her raves, admitted it overbeat her whipped cream into butter before she knew it--that's not necessarily a good thing. I'm used to having more control. Also miss having a hole in the food pusher for adding liquids (makes making mayo much easier). I wanted to love this machine, after drooling over it for over a year. It certainly does the job, but is it worth double the price? Perhaps if it lasts double the 20 years I used my Cuisinart."

OH MY GOSH!!
September 9, 2008 Rjhbicfrom Santa Clarita, CA
"My young daughter just got married last week. She and her husband LOVE to cook (thank God something wore off on her!! lol) and I gave her my large Kitchen Aid. I burned out 2 other KA's ( i used my processor EVERYDay) and this one was fairly new. I could not justify buying the Magimix until I burned this one out, so giving it to my daughter was perfect. I wanted this darn Magimix for over a year. I read about it, I looked at it, I wanted it , I dreampt about it, I coveted it. So this was a WIN WIN situation for me. But that review by FOXTOP got me to pull the trigger. I was so afraid to spend the extra money.....and really....could it be that much better???? Well OH MY GOSH.......IT IS!!!!!!!!! it's SO intuitive. It SO powerful, but in a really GREAT way. I have had the darn thing for 4 days. I have done the following: * extracted vegable juice (for a base for soup) * grated Cheese * made homemade pizza dough * pureed sauce * attempted homemade mayo (I blew it! LOL) * Chopped, diced, etc....for homemade egg rolls * juiced lemons and limes * attempted to whip cream (turned it into butter!) It's amazing. I had 3 bowls with my kitchen aid and NEVER could I use all three at one time. This one you can.....! The bowls are so easy to use and put onto the machine. Not like the KA where they had to "lock" into place. The machine is so powerful, you have to REALLY be careful not to let it go too long. I turned my whipped cream into butter! I am used to a certain time frame and this machine just does things so much faster. I was worried about the feeding tube size, but it seems fine so far.....large enough but not too big. Also, when the cheese shreds, the machine disperses it perfectly around the bowl, not in one huge pile on one side that has to be pushed around. The cheese is perfectly light and fluffy and stays that way! Everything cleans SO easy, dries so easy and cleans up so easy. them machine looks perfect in no time after really messy use. And lets talk the juice extractor......I thought I was NOT going to use it......but I had 2 bags of carrots, some tomatoes and celery that was sort of at the end of their life.....I juiced them. boy was the juice GREAT.....and that juice made the BEST base for vegetable soup.....YUM!! I will be using it ALL THE TIME. Is it worth the money? I think so. Am I happy? Definately. And by the way, it's GORGEOUS on my counter. My girlfriend came for dinner and just could not get over how beautiful and powerful it is.....she is hooked too!! I"

Worth the price
August 11, 2008 FoxTopfrom Virginia
"I'm glad I finally bit the bullet and purchased this item as it is better than expected and suits me completely. It's hard to spend so much when there are still unanswered questions, so I anguished for months before finally deciding to try it. If you're in the same boat, I'll try to clarify a few things that I wondered about. 1) The feed tube isn't shown 'face forward' so you don't know how big it is. While It's decent sized (about 2"x3"), it's not as big as the largest offered by competitors, BUT there are no aggravating safety catches. You just put the stuff in and push. The pusher isn't attached. You can apparently purchase another top with a huge oversized feed tube but all the irritating safety features come with it. I prefer the ease of this unrestricted tube. 2) While the big bowl as multiple blade options, and the little bowl has its own small metal blade, the midi bowl has no blade. Its main purpose is for use with the slicing/grating disks as they fit over it perfectly so no unprocessed food can escape and mix with the processed food. I've used it multiple times and even though it sits inside the bigger bowl, I've not had to wash the larger bowl as nothing fell into it. 3) Locking the large bowl and top in place (required for all activities) is easy and intuitive--even easy for left-handers, which is more than I can say for my previous unit. That one drove me crazy. The Magimix is blissfully intuitive in all operations. 4) The central post in the bowls is tall enough to process a large amount of stuff without it leaking out when you remove the bowl. Likewise, the blade's hollow 'inside' is big enough to insert a finger to keep it from falling off when you pour out your processed food. 5) The juicer is very effective and easy to use. 6) The citrus juicer is also very quick and effective, and if you've forgotten how good fresh squeezed orange juice is, you're in for a treat (store bought can't compare). In fact you can process the oranges, then switch to the other juicer and add carrot juice without emptying the bowl. I can make a little or enough for a week in only a couple of minutes. Cleanup is a breeze. 7) Although the big bowl can hold a lot, it works well for smaller quantifies too, and large or small, the spatula included is really useful, not a throw away as others are. 8) I thought it would be weird to nest the bowls when the smaller ones are needed, but it's not. It works fine and it's easier to have only one locking bowl and one cover regardless of which bowl you're actually using for processing.
All in all, I'm very pleased. I've made bread dough, pesto, juice, grated rock hard parmigiano, as well as mozzarella, prepped ingredients for soup and tomato sauce among other things and all worked really well. I bought the extra disks and am enjoying the additional options they afford. (You can get them into the storage case although there are only four official slots for disks). There was almost no learning curve and clean up is easy. Highly recommended."

Massive and cool
June 2, 2008 creativemediumfrom Colorado Springs
"What's massive about it? The size, for sure. Man, I have really made some large dishes in this thing! That's cool. I no longer have to suffer doing BATCHES of anything. Three bowl sizes is cool too. If there is a disadvantage, it's that the instruction booklet never makes it clear you have to always use the big bowl when using the smaller bowls. So, if you are whipping up something small or medium, you end up washing two bowls, because you dirty them both."

Newly married (again)!
January 4, 2008 Maxiefrom Salt Lake City, UT
"The Magimix has really outdone its previous Cuisinart. I loved the Cuisinart I had bought in 1975 (which is still in excellent working condition after nearly daily use) & waited to see what Robot Coupe would do next. I just got remarried last year & my husband saw me lusting for your new product. So for my wedding gift, he bought me one. I was so thrilled that we bought one for his son who loves to cook. It is worth every penny. I use it daily for soups, making dough, mixing & chopping. I love the different sized bowls & assorted blades which are included. The instruction manual helped me overcome any apprehension that I first had. It is the ideal workhorse for any type of cook. It also looks very attractive sitting on our newly installed counter. The pulsing action is better than the old Cuisinart since the cook has more control & the vegetables or meat are chopped to the correct consistency desired. The Sabatier blades are excellent & the storage case keeps them all organized. Thank you Robot Coupe! You've done it again!"

"I have owned a Cuisinart for many years. When I replaced it with the Magimix 5150 I realized I waited far too long to purchase this excellent machine. There is no comparison between my former Cuisanart and this powerful machine. At first, I thought the 3 bowls and other accessories for the 5150 were going to be difficult to organize and handle but the instruction booklet anticipated every question I had. This machine sits on my counter and I use it every day. It is powerful and quiet. Its efficient motor does what my Cuisanart did in half the time. The 5150 has been especially good at kneading dough and making light pastry. I also like the way it slices and cuts vegetables and fruits without mashing them. I love this machine."
