I have been volunteering and sometimes I am a paid employee of a small senior center. I do a lot of peeling of vegetables. I have bought some from various places including while vacationing in Japan. OXO swivel peelers are the best. This is the reason I chose to purchase 10 for my church women's group to make peeling carrots and other vegetables easier and faster for the ladies at our fundraising preparation events.

this peeler is absolutely the mac daddy of peelers. Bought it to replace an oxo swivel peeler that had seen better days. Yes, the whole peeler mechanism is a pretty brushed metal, and the peeler blades are very sharp!

It is soft, comfortable, non-slip even when wet, and incredibly sharp. I've had mine for years and it still works like a dream.
