This replaces the original which snapped where the hook joins the round disc. I don't have any reason to believe that this one won't eventually snap as well.
I wish the "S" shaped dough hook was available for this model as I make a lot of bread and cookies which require a sturdy dough hook.

The KitchenAide stand mixer and this dough hook make bread making a joy! It saves time and "elbow grease" and makes beautiful doughs. It's also great for mixing ground meat and the ingredients for meatloaf, meatballs and sausage! Clean up is a breeze and the price is very reasonable for such a versatile, durable accessory.

There's not much to say about this dough-hook: if you bake kneaded breads, then you need it. You'll save time and your hands with perfect results. It's easy to clean and can be conveniently stored in the mixer-bowl. I love to bake and would not find myself doing so as often without it.

I make my yeast doughs in 1/4 the time it took me by hand kneading. It cleans easily too!

I recently replaced my old (24 yrs!) dough hook with this newly designed one. I was amazed how much faster it kneaded the dough. It's a subtle design change that makes an amazing difference. My dough is perfectly kneaded in about one third less time. Be sure and reduce the time on your recipes.

I have used this many times for bread and pie dough. It does a great job in a minimum amount of time. Of course the mixer is a sturdy powerful mixer.
