I love how this dough hook works. It is much better than the old C-style hook that came with my 6qt Kitchen Aid which I've had for a few years. I read Cooks Illustrated and the spiral hook was recommended to take the place of the C and I'm so glad I finally ordered it. It handles a large amount of yeast dough and mixes it up effortlessly. I bake bread often and now this item has just made my life easier.

When I'm in the Kitchen, I become: Crowd Pleaser
I've heard some people claim they find kneading dough to be restorative, meditative, calming, of being as one with the finished product. I found it to be just work. I already have the Kitchen-Aid, why not let it do its job. I enjoy cooking tremendously, and I can make fresh bread with no work. Add the ingredients, turn on the machine, come back when the ball of dough has climbed the hook, let it rise, bake, and accept kudos from everyone who doesn't know how easy it was.

I've baking the Honey Oatmeal bread using the recipe in the KitchenAid cook book for years using the standard dough hook. This new dough hook provided the best results I have ever had. It truly does mix and "kneads" the entire mixture in the time stated in the recipe.
Pros: Easy to Clean/Wash, Value for Money, easy to use, durability
My KitchenAid mixer was too small to accomodate this, so be sure that you have the larger bowl (mine is only 4.5 quarts). This was my own fault for not knowing this would not work with my existing set-up. BUT it does attach to my machine....so the price was so right.....too little to return it...... I had an idea:
My neighbor used it on her larger KitchenAid mixer and loves it so much so I gave it to her!!! She said the dough doesn't crawl up the hook !!! This is a common problem with dough hooks. I could not have bought her lunch out for what this cost and she bakes so much she's now got a winning dough hook!
Pros: Appearance/ Design /Style, capacity, construction, durability, Easy to change/Empty filter, Easy to Clean/Wash, easy to store, easy to use, Easy to view/Read, Energy efficient, Fast/ Speed, Functional/Useful, Long-lasting, multi-purpose, Performs Well, quality, size, True to Color, Value for Money

Worth the price

This dough really shines when mixing a wet dough, like a Ciabatta. The wet dough doesn't climb the hook as it does on the standard dough hook. A word of caution: Do not go over recommended speed of 2, as hook motion puts a greater amount of pressure on mixer bowl assembly. This is especially pronounced on large amounts of heavy dough. Overall a much needed and functional accessory for the KitchenAid .
