Broken after two uses
February 13, 2008 chefhoppifrom San Francisco, CA
"Theoretically this is a great gadget. It has more than 30 wines on the library, keeping track of exactly what temperature the wine needs to be for optimum flavor.
The problem is, it is LOUD. Also, like what the other members said, it takes FOREVER to get a bottle to the optimum temperature.
Our biggest issue with it though, is that it is now broken after two uses. You put a bottle in, pick the wine type from the library, cover it with the sleeve, press go... 5 minutes late it thinks my bottle of room temperature wine is actually currently 0 degrees and starts warming it like there's no tomorrow... If I wasn't paying attention I would have ruined a $50 bottle of wine! I tested it again with a bottle of white and the same problem happened...
We got this as a Christmas present so I guess I'll have to figure out how to fix it at some point, but I would definitely not buy one for someone!"

Do not bother to buy this item
January 6, 2008 cedarbendfrom Warroad, MN
"My husband bought this for me for a Christmas gift (very sweet of him!). Our anniversary was 12/28 and we were excited to use it to chill a bottle of sparkling wine....WELL, over 3 HOURS later it finally said "Cheers" (that's a laugh). By that time we were incredulous at how long it had taken! Adding insult to injury, when we drank it it wasn't even all that cold. We could have stuck it out in the snowbank or the fridge and in half an hour we would have had a nice chilled bottle of wine. I suppose it would work alright for reds (who knows, though), but I'm not spending $99 just to take the edge off a bottle of red even though that is the majority of what we drink. Save your money and don't bother with this thing."

Very nice product
January 4, 2008 TheGoofsfrom Acworth, GA
"This chiller is wonderful. If you know anything about wine, then you'll like this chiller. If you just like wine and want it cold now, this isn't for you. This product is meant to "take care" of wines, so you get optimum temperature to get the best taste. The only thing I don't like about this chiller is that it is very noisy."

Not worth the money.
December 27, 2007 Andiefrom Baton Rouge, LA
"It takes far too long to chill a red wine (much longer than 15 min.) that is already at room temp. Plus, it is VERY loud. If it were up to me, I would return it, but I got it for my boyfriend, and he likes it bec/ it's a gadget that he doesn't already have. I strongly suspect that we will not use it very much. I would not recommend it. Use the frig and get a thermometer."

I really like mine, but not for white wine
December 4, 2007 cheryllofrom Magalia, CA
"Unlike the other reviewer, I rarely drink white wine which is served colder than reds. I have found a big difference in the taste of a red wine I try at a restaurant, and the same wine when I have it at home. The correct temp really matters in the taste of reds, and this product works excellent for quickly getting red wine to the proper temp. usually in ten minutes or less I have found. I love it! On the rare occasions I have white wine or champagne, I cool them in the fridge first, and then put them in the chiller to come down or up to the proper serving temp for whatever kind of wine it is."

Useless device
November 30, 2007 NMcookfrom Cedar Crest, NM
"What the product copy does not tell you is how long this "chiller" takes to bring the wine from room to optimum drinking temperature. For a bottle of white wine, the time is one hour and fifteen minutes. I was expecing to be able to place a bottle of wine in the chiller when I started to make dinner and have it be the optimum temperature when dinner was ready. I'll stay with the freezer (20 minutes), the fridge or an ice bucket. I returned the so-called "chiller"."
