I bought the "simmer pad" specifically to enable me to use my brand new Emile Henry 10" flame top pizza stones on my gas stove top. Scary. But it really worked. I was able to keep the flame at least 1" from the stone, and even at that extra low setting, my stone heated up, and I was able to heat frozen wafles to a crisp. I would never trust any other heat defuser.

This diffuser plate works perfectly, keeping pots of soup or sauce simmering just right. I no longer have to constantly check the pot to find things boiling to fast or too slow.

These simmer mats do a fine job of keeping uncooperative pots from burning unsuspecting sauces. They will also keep the bottom of a pot of chili from becoming burning rubber.

I love my Viking gas cooktop, but my only complaint is that I can't get the heat set to a nice, low simmer. On a whim, I purchased this simmer mat, figuring it wasn't that much money wasted if it did not work. To my surprise, it works amazingly well! I can now get my sauces to that perfect simmer temperature. I am so happy I got this before Thanksgiving, because it will make simmering my gravy a snap. No more scorching!

We use these on a fairly old, but high BTU gas range and love them. They really do control the heat for slow simmer things like rice, etc. I would highly recommend. Enjoy.

These work so well I'm glad I bought two of them. Great for spaghetti sauce or 15 bean soup. When using one of these there was absolutely no scorching and I didn't have to stir the pots as often. Absolutely no splattering.

I had been thinking about purchasing this item and finally decided to give it a try - I was not disappointed! I have a dual fuel range with a gas cooktop, and the burners always seem to run hot. This simmer plate has completely solved the problem. So far I have tried with homemade soup and spaghetti sauce, and I could keep both at a gentle simmer, rather than burning and sticking. I recommend this to anyone with a similar problem. It's made of heavy, teflon-coated steel and didn't warp while on the flame or after it cooled either.

The Simmer Mat is a convenient product when cooking on the stovetop to eliminate standing and stirring the pot. The Simmer Mat takes care of that for me by distributing the heat and slow cooking the item. The handle on my previous one broke and I looked in numerous stores before realizing Chef's has all the right cooking tools. And the price was right! Great product.

This is the 3rd simmer plate I have ordered. It is not the same finish as the previous ones which were an enamel-like finish. The most recent one is a matte finish which I do not like. The description did not indicate this.

I'm very satisfied with my purchase of the simmer mats. I have a glass cooktop and have not been able to use my black iron skillets that have been passed down in my family for generations. Now I can use my skillets with no fear of damaging the cooktop.

This is my second purchase of this item ae the first on works very well. It makes making slow cook items very easy to do and does keep the ptoduct from sticking.
If you make a lot of sauces, etc. you need a SimmerMat.

I was disappointed with this product. My soup maintained a slow boil, not a simmer. I have a gas stove and the simmer flame is probably hotter than it should be. I had hoped the Simmer Mat would solve that problem.

Terrible burning smell when I used this and on very low heat. Hours later my husband came home and wanted to know what burned! I only used it for a few minutes it was so bad, even tho I thought maybe it would burn off and be OK. Couldn't wait for that to happen and could not get an answer about the smell. Returned
