Works wonderfully October 7, 2007
heather from Mountain Town, MT

"We use these on a fairly old, but high BTU gas range and love them. They really do control the heat for slow simmer things like rice, etc. I would highly recommend. Enjoy."

Great for Older Stoves October 27, 2008
SIcook from Osceola Mills, PA

"If you have an older gas stove that lacks a simmer burner, this simmer mat is for you. Can't get your burner low enough for delicate simmering or warming? This mat allows a great deal of low heat control. Works exactly as advertised on my gas stove."

A cook's best friend! September 22, 2008
shellbell from Trinidad, CO

"I have a gas stove and my small burner was still to high for simmering. After burning sauces, rice, chili, you name it, I sought out a simmer plate! I finally found one in Chefs Catalog and ordered it right away. I now feel confident enough to leave my favorite dishes on the stove for hours until they are cooked to perfection! It also works great when we are making hot chocolate on the stove top!"

Good for bad stoves March 21, 2008
crusher from maryland

"Decent tool to have if you have a gas stove or a stove that heats very unevenly. If you ever burned a sauce on a gas stove because the middle of the pot is getting hit by the low flame and the outer parts of the pot isn't, you'll get some good use out of the simmerMat. It takes longer than usually to find a good heat setting for simmer though because the heat needs to travel throughout the mat then to the pot. That gets kind of annoying. Can't really see a need for it with electric or ceramic tops though since they already have even coverage of heat."

Best tool in the kitchen October 29, 2007
midget from Fort Worth, Texas

"I use this simmer mat all the time! Even low, on my samllest burner, is sometimes too hot and this simmer mat keeps things simmering with no scorching or burned on food. It really works and I highly recomend it!"
