Breville Smart Toaster Die-Cast : This smart
toaster features an internal electronic chip that
automatically lowers bread with a single touch and
regulates toasting time. The brushed die-cast metal
toaster is designed with dual control panels so each
side operates independently of the other. Push-button
controls include toast, a bit more, bagel, defrost, and
lift-and-look functions. Press the "a bit
more" button and bread automatically lowers for
additional toasting time. The smart lift-and-look
function automatically raises the bread carriage during
toasting to allow viewing and/or canceling mid-cycle.
Blue LED panels illuminate, acting as a progress
indicator by counting down the time remaining in the
toasting cycle. A beep indicates when toast is done.

It cost more than I would normally spend for a two slice toaster. But decided to take a chance and very glad I did. The design is very nice and the footprint is small. Just place the bread in and push toast that is it. The toast is very even and for me comes out perfect. Love the wide slots for hamburger buns.

I just got this toaster and i absolutely love it. I have not quite figured out the settings to get my toast just the way i like it but i am sure i will figure that out - i keep having to push the "a bit more" button - which is way cool. Solid product. Breville makes very good appliances. I also have their juice extractor and large juicing machine. All are great products.

I purchased this toaster for my husband for Christmas. I know, I know.....an appliance for a gift??? BUT, a new toaster was what he wanted. I read reviews, made comparisons and decided on the Breville. It is incredible!!! Toasts perfectly, and if you want just a smidgen more....use the "a bit more feature".
Toast, bagels, english muffins all are toasted to perfection. If a new toaster is on your wish list....put the Breville on top!

I have never met I toaster I liked. In fact, I hate toasters. They are way too unpredictable. But, all that has changed. My husband bought me this toaster, going against the rule - NEVER BUY YOUR WIFE A KITCHEN APPLIANCE AS A GIFT! But, I'm glad he did. This toaster is fantastic. It browns evenly, has a lift and look feature and "a bit more" feature that really works. I highly recommend this toaster.

I love this toaster so much I purchased one for my Mom too. Finally a toaster that toasts evenly on both sides! I love all of the options offered too. "Defrost", "bagel", "a little bit more", all options I have used and love. Easy to clean, reliable, very nice looking. I would recommend spending the extra money to everyone. This toaster is worth it. Love it, love it, love it.

Finally, the perfect toaster. I was a bit skeptical about paying over $100 for a toaster, but this toaster was worth every penny. The slots are big enough for thick bagels and can even defrost them perfectly and then toast! The electronic count-down timer and beep helps to ensure your toast is down the way you want it. My old toaster used to either burn the toast or not cook it enough - you will not have that problem with this toaster. The toaster is heavy-duty and is made extremely well. If anyone is looking for a great toaster, don't pass this model up, Breville delivers.

Not much to say other than it completely met, if not exceeded my expectations. My only problem is that I eat more toast now...!
Love the "a bit more" button and the "take a peek" button.
Exterior is rock solid cast aluminum, feels like it's built like a tank, but the exterior doesn't get hot like so many less expensive toasters. You could pay a lot less, and you'll get a lot less.

Love this toaster. Was very apprehensive because of the cost but it is worth the extra money. I'm so pleased with the way it looks on my counter and how well it functions. Has so many great feature. I also love buying from Chef's Catolog. I am happy with their service.

OK, it's hard to get excited about a toaster, but this one rocks. Fast and even toasting and the the controls are great (the take a peak feature is neat) and the toasts lowers and raises itself (very cool). It is pricey, but worth it.

Wow! This toaster rocks! After trying many toasters, I have finally found the one that lives up to my high standards. The "lift and look" feature is awesome. Check out this state-of-the art toaster! It really is smart!

I did a lot or research in replacing an older toaster. The Breville had nice wide slots for bagels. I use to have to flatten my bagels by hand to fit in the toaster... this one has plenty of room. The controls are clear and the settings work just fine, I like my bagels just slightly toasted and on the lowest setting this is just how they come out! I was also looking for a fairly low wattage toaster, and most toasters are much higher in their wattage rating than the Breville

This toaster does what it's supposed to -- makes consistent darkness. In addition, it has features that have proven to be useful like time remaining, "lift and look", and "a bit more".

I've gone through several toasters with various problems including uneven and inconsistent browning which varies from toast to toast, thermostat or timer malfunctions after very little use, causing blackened or too light toast on the same setting and other performance issues.
I toast bread often and have had many toasters, both expensive top brands or less expensive brands which didn't deliver in terms of results and/or performance. The higher end brand we had before this one had mediocre toasting results and failed within a year's use. One side burned out and the lever lowering the bread wouldn't stay down. So, the hunt was on for a replacement and I found this one with high ratings.
What is different from the other toasters I've had is the toasting is amazingly perfect and consistent from slice to slice. The setting has not needed adjustment, it just WORKS! I like the auto-lowering and the single beep indicating the toast is done. It's unobtrusive and understated, so keeping it out on the counter doesn't detract. Time will tell regarding its durability, but it's the best I've owned so far for results and ease of use.

Having burnt toast for breakfast is an awful way to start the day; and who needs more aggravation first thing in the morning? As always, you get what you pay for. Don't bother with the cheaper models.

For the price, I was expecting perfection... While this model does a better job than other toasters I have owned, it still doesn't toast both sides of the bread perfectly even. One side is always a bit less toasted than the other side.
The features are nice - the bread lowers with the touch of a button, the 'just a bit more' is handy and I like the 'lift and look' feature as well. The toaster is pretty large, but it is also a really great looking piece of kitchen equipment should you decide to leave it on the counter. Be warned though, especially if you have young kids, the top of the toaster does get hot.
All in all, I do like this toaster.
