Electric Salt/Pepper Mill : Our handsome and oh-so-functional mill is a great alternative to manual grinders, which can be hard for some people to twist. Simply push the button to start the grinding process. A small light illuminates the bottom of the mill so that you can see exactly how much is being dispensed. Use with coarse sea salt and/or whole peppercorns only. Salt and peppercorns must be purchased separately. Each mill requires 6 AAA batteries, not included. I just ordered three sets of these for Christmas Gifts. I first saw them in a local restaurant and had to have a set. I have had mine for over a year and everyone who has dinner with us loves them.
Shopping for them on line was the easiest experience. They arrived very quickly.

I absolutely love the electric salt and pepper mills. A friend of mine had the pepper grinder and I looked and looked everywhere for one and never did find them until I received the Chef Magazine and there they were. They are a little pricey. But it is something I will use daily and think it's worth it. It's nice to have the light to see how much salt and pepper you're using.

A fabulous gift for our wedding!! One serious drawback tho..... WARNING!! Metal housing but PLASTIC insides! If you leave these anywhere near the stove, the metal heats, and the plastic warps. I was dumb enough to innocently leave them on the center area of the stove, where the spoonrest goes, and they overheated. I was so sad but lovetd them so much, I bought another pair!! Love that they light up the food so you can see how much you s/p you are using!!

The site was very easy to get-around. The produce, a pepper mill (electric) was delivered in record time, before I expected it. The produce was second generation. It was heavy and well made. It replaced an older electric pepper mill that was at least 3 years old. I got the older one from Chef's.

The quality of the pepper mill seemed good. Unfortunately, when I received it and put the batteries in it, only the light worked. I had to return it and am waiting for my replacement.

I purchased a set of these, enjoyed them for a short time, after having guests have the salt grinder drop in their food I had to remove them from our table. It was like the salt came unglued from the outer casing and when you would go to use it over your food it would drop. I will be contacting Chef's about this.

I purchased these as a follow up of similar units that didn't work out too well. These units are of a different design and so far are working out quite well. They both provide their contents in a controlled pattern that is made quite visible by the light which is activated when the mills are active.
I have one question and that has to do with the identity of the two mills. The mills come in packages which identify the salt and the pepper unit. Once removed from the packages their identity is gone. I inspected the two units and found that the only apparent difference is in the grinder section. The salt unit has a metal grinder whereas the pepper appears to be a ceramic or white material. Since the salt is corrosive over time I was surprised that the ceramic was not used for the salt unit and wondered if the units had somehow been mixed in their original container packages.
Since this could have an influence on the long term performance of the units I would appreciate learning an answer to my question. Thank you.

I was so disappointed with this product. The silver top kept slipping off so therefore you could not lock it. It was like the glue had come off.This happened on both the salt & pepper grinder. I will be sending these items back. I have ordered other things from chefs and the quality has been good. This was a gift for a special friend and I had to give them to her and explain that I had to send the back.

We were so excited to get this as we used one in a restaurant. Put the batteries in, put it together, used it for a couple of minutes and then it quit working!!! Returned it. Guess we will resort to manual grinders!! Very surprised and displeased to find it did not work.

I have had this model Pepper and Salt grinder model before. Wore them out after ~3 years. Just received new and the pepper mill does not work. Returning it for exchange today.

I absolutely love this set. Everyone that uses them comments on the light. I don't know what it is but that little light is so great. It shines right on the food that you are seasoning and you can see exactly how much seasoning you are using. No more too salty or too much pepper! Love them.

I bought this pepper mill to replace one that I purchased years ago at Bed, Bath and Beyond. When I went there to replace it, all they had was junk.
This is the battery operated pepper mill you want. It is well made - the stainless is a nice upgrade from the previous version that was plastic. Yes, the storage area for the pepper is plastic, but the last one survived close to 10 years, and this is similarly constructed, so i expect it to last quite a while too.
One added benefit, this newer version holds the same amount of pepper but is smaller overall. Looks nicer on the counter.
