I have had other microplanes that had a plastic frame and they all eventually broke. These planes have a stainless- steel frame and are really sturdy. I don't think they will break with normal use.

Excellent for Quick Grating & Clean Up

I have the coarse and medium size; and the result of grating cheese with the microplane graters is superior to the box graters, in which you have to hunt for the food on the underside, they're messy and difficult to clean. I've thrown out my box grater. The microplanes produce quick results, are easy to clean, dishwasher safe, sturdy, and I store mine upright in with the other kitchen gadgets on the countertop for easy access.
Pros: quick results, easy cleaning

All of these graters are wonderful! I don't know how I lived without them before. They hardly take up any room in the drawer and are light-weight and easy to clean. They have made grating much simpler!

Only Grater I will ever use

I have cooked for many years and have used all types of graters. This microplane grater is in a class all by itself. It is very lightweight with a very comfortable handle. Its super sharp microblades grates the hard cheeses and even carrots effortlessly. Clean up is a breeze. The oversize blade provides a broad surface for quick preparations. I use to hate the time it took to grate food items but not anymore.

This microplane grater works much better than I expected. I used it to work up ginger since mine usually sits in the produce drawer and dries out. Now I can grate and freeze it and have fresh to use!

We already had a longer and much narrower plane that does a great job for us, but in processing some items it became difficult to keep them on the planing surface. These wider planes are easier to use and we now have a choice of finished results.

You'll fly through grating!

This is a great set of graters. If you're not careful, you'll have so much fun grating that you might fly through a whole brick of cheese when you only needed to grate a little! These are easy on your hands, too, with big, soft handles. The rubber bumper on the front of the grater keeps it from slipping when in use. The only caveat is that you will not get thick shreds off any of the graters. So if you need chunky shreds of anything, keep something else in the house, too.

Just got a fine Microplane grater and I'm so glad I did. No more scraped knuckles, no more cheese stuck to the inside of the box grater. Makes nice fluffy parmigano reggiano. Cleans up like a breeze.

A Must Have!

I just love this set! Seeing them in use really sold me on them. I wanted to replace my box grater because I got tired of seeing the cheese that I love still stuck to the insides after I would use it and bruising my fingers at times trying to retrieve the leftovers. They beautifully grate chocolate, garlic, ginger, nutmeg, etc. I love that this is a Microplane product, how they rest flat on top of the bowl, allowing me to grate to my hearts content without fear of slipping (the rubber handles and tip of the graters prevent slip) and clean-up is a snap! Wash in lukewarm soapy water, blot with a paper towel and snap the protective cover back on to store. No more lost food (I hate to waste anything) or bruised fingers, even without the guard! They fit nicely in my utensil crock or in the drawer. A must have for any kitchen! Highly Recommended!!!

Wow! You have not used a grater until you have used these. I use them for garlic, zesting, hard cheese, onions you name it. The list goes on and on. I have thrown out my old garlic press, which was always a pain to use. I use garlic nearly every meal and these graters make it fun and easy to use.
The handles are non slip and the whole thing is just so easy to use. I just love them and would recommend them to anyone, even a casual cook. They really are WOW!!!

Dread No More!

These graters are like magic. No excuses for grating procrastination. For lemon and orange zest it grates the whole fruit as quickly as I can turn it; and it takes only the zest. For grating cheddar cheese it takes less time and effort than getting out the Cuisinart, and I like the fluffy way the cheese comes out.

Hand Graters

I have had these graters for a few years and honestly don't know how I did without them. They are awesome. There is nothing like pasta with "freshly grated" cheese over top. I also love to grate my garlic for meatballs, and soups, and also any saute recipe, the flavor seems so much more potent. I also like to grate chocolate on top of out of the oven brownies to give them a gooey, chocolately effect. When you have the right tools in the kitchen, you are far more likely to cook something than you are to go to a drive-thru, and once you taste your own gourmet food you realize that there is NOTHING in the fast food places that can compare to the taste of your own creation. It doesn't take long to create something tasty, and nutritious in your own kitchen, at least you know what is in it.

These are the best little things to have around. So easy to use. They are not like the bulky grater I used to use. No mess like the other either. Just hold it above the food and start grating. I used to have stuff all over with the other kind.

These very sharp graters are excellent for zesting and grating hard things. i like my rotary grater better for cheese but use these for nearly everything else. They are sharp so handle carefully. I also purchased the hand grip and protector which only works well for very small items such as nutmegs and small pieces of ginger. I am so impressed by the zesting prowess of the fine grater than I am on a run baking orange and lemon flavored cakes.

This graters bigger surface area makes grating hard cheeses and other large items easier and faster to grate than the long and slim classic series. It also is open and easier to clean than the original. I’m all about gadgets that reduce my legwork in the kitchen. However, I will say the original slender microplane feels a little better zesting because it’s easier to see the fruit underneath.
