This is an excellent product which does exactly what it promises.I use non fat milk from grass fed cows - and the savings are enormous...given that a premium organic yoghurt can cost up to $2.00 for a 6 oz carton, and that you can buy a half gallon of organic grass fed milk for just under $4.00...the unit soon pays for itself, plus you know exactly what you are eating.
Buy the top rack and extra jars if you eat a lot!

This is an easy way to make yogurt for your individual needs and desires. I like it because I can use fresh fruit with no sugar added. I used whole raw milk and followed the yogurt maker directions. It was great!

While this maker is not necessary it makes it a whole lot easier. I have found that using pastuerized milk at room temp. works better for me. The directions are pretty easy to follow and the timer feature is nice to have. I have been enjoting fresh yoguert for a week now and absolutely love it. I mix in a little orange clover honey and man does it taste great. In the future I am going to buy live cultures to bring it to a all natural state.

I gave this appliance - along with the extra glass jars - to my sister for Christmas. She is NOT "gadget savvy", so I had to be sure this was easy to operate and easy to clean up. She absolutely LOVES this yogurt maker. Since she unwrapped it, she has made about 5 batches of yogurt, all perfectly done. You will not be sorry if you get this appliance!

This is a top quality product. The design is perfect for usability and cleanliness. The individual 6 oz jars are just the right size. It is so easy to just fill the jars and set the timer and know that the yogurt will come out with the right amount of sweetness or tanginess. When it is done, just screw on the caps and refrigerate, wipe out the inside and top of yogurt maker with damp cloth and put it away. It doesn't get any easier than this.

Was a bit worried, when I didn't see the time indicator moving, but just stay where I programmed it. No worries, timer went off as specified. Wonderful results!! Yogurt is just about the tastiest I have experienced, and having the little jars to refrigerate is most convenient. Definitely recommend this little gem to anyone wanting to make yogurt conveniently. Many Thanks.

Upon receipt of this product, put glass jars and tops in pot and boiled to sterilize. Tops deformed and shrunk and are impossible to put on jars. Have been calling ever since to learn if I can get more tops or should I just package the whole thing up and return it since you guarantee satisfaction. No metion of not to boil the tops. Would have been nice to have warned me. You seem to have a warning about everything else. When I call am assured will have a response in a day or so but none received.

Totally satisfied with the yogurt maker......would give it 5 stars on performance alone.
i subtracted one star due to the fact that the price seems high for basically a relatively simple plastic incubator. I can only feel that the price is supported by the fact that there is little real competition in the marketplace.
That said- "Would I buy it again?"
Answer-"Absolutely- it does what I want it to do, and does it well! In fact
i bought a second one as a gift for my daughter."
I would not hesitate to order from Chefscatalog.com again!

Good machine

This is a pretty good machine for the price. It took me a few tries to figure out how to turn it on (I didn't read the directions so maybe that was my fault), but once I figured it out, it was easy to use. The consistency of the yogurt was weird - a little grainy - but that might be because we used plain Greek yogurt for the starter. With the next batch I will use a prepackaged yogurt starter. I don't know if a fancier machine would be worth the price difference. I'm satisfied with my purchase.

I had quit eating yogurt because I couldn't handle dairy and didn't like the taste and texture of soy or coconut milk yogurt from my local grocery store. I found a recipe to make yogurt with coconut and nut milk and no dairy. Bought this maker to test and it gave a very good result. Yogurt setup nicely and tasted good. The jars are a perfect size for breakfast. The glass jars go through the dishwasher nicely.

Delicious Yoghurt

PostedJanuary 24, 2011

We have been using Greek yoghurt for a long time so I thought this would replace it. The yoghurt I made was using a starter from the Greek yoghurt I had. It turned out so delicious that I will make it myself from now on instead of buying at the store. I used whole milk from the cartons that have a long shelf life as I didn't have enough milk in the fridge. It makes no difference what type of whole milk used. My husband says it tastes just like his mother used to make when he was a boy; (he puts a dab of honey in it), and she didn't have a machine to make it with either so I feel pretty good about this unit. Makes enough to last the week. A bit expensive though at $59.99 for such a simple machine.
Pros: Cord length, Easy to Clean/Wash, quality, easy to use, construction, size, Appearance/ Design /Style, Performs Well, easy to store, Functional/Useful, Easy to view/Read
Cons: No variety in color, should be less expensive than $59.99
