"Before moving into a house I lived in an apartment with a very small kitchen and limited space. Only a few items were kept close at hand, and this was certainly one of them. It's uses are many, from zesting citrus, to grinding nutmeg. I've even used it to finely grate garlic into super potent paste. The handle is comfortable and the acrylic sleeve makes for easy storage without having to worry about dulling. After five years the thing still works as good as the day I bought it. It's no wonder this gadget has become a staple in kitchens everywhere."

"I received this microplane as a gift and absolutely love it. The grating surface is exceptionally sharp making it the best tool I have ever used for removing zest from lemons, limes and oranges; and it makes grating fresh gingerroot a breeze! The handle is particularly comfortable to hold and the plastic safety cover is really useful, protecting the cutting blade and preventing an accidental cut when rummaging around in the gadget drawer. After grating, you can just tap the microplane on the edge of your bowl to release any of the grated product. And it rinses clean very easily too. If I ever lost this tool, I'd buy another one immediately. I highly recommend it. ."

"Up to now I have never found a grater that satisfied me like this one does. It is perfect for use as a zester on lemons and limes. It handles with ease (a good handle, and easy to manuever blade),quickly removes the zest while avoiding the bitter white undersection, and is easy to clean. I also like the protective edging along both sides of the blade (contains the zest nicely) and the rubber edged tip. Thank you Chef's for this tool. I will use this tool a lot and definitely recommend it to friends."

"I actually acquired this product from my Mom, who is something of a "gadget godess". It was languishing on her kitchen counter, so I asked if I could have it. I'm glad she hadn't used it yet because if she had, she'd never have parted with it! The teeth are quite sharp, so it zests with ease, but no longer do my fingernails wind up shredded as well. As advertised, it also works well for grating ginger root and hard cheese. I use mine for grinding nutmeg and cinnamon, too. And as a bonus, it cleans up easily. Terrific tool!"

"If you do not have one of these, first buy it for yourself. It makes grating so easy! I use it all the time. It is easy to grate and easy to clean up. I love the plastic cover. Thus when I reach into my drawer that holds all my kitchen tool, I don't have to worry about getting cut."

"Every cook (casual or serious) should have this tool.
If you ever need lemon zest, or grated parmesan cheese this is the tool for you.
It is very sharp, and it takes no effort to get perfect zest and cheese. It also cleans easily. This is one of my favorite kitchen tools and I use it frequently.

"Best $ I ever spent - I've tossed 5 miscellaneous graters & zesters that won't see use in my kitchen ever again. This is so fast and easy for ginger (zip and you're done), citrus (it was so much trouble before I usually skipped it, and just used a little juice), and garlic (quicker, less messy than using a chef's knife to mince and crush with the flat of the blade). The handle is comfortable and the tool is so sharp getting the job done is a breeze. AND it cleans up in a flash - no more bristle brush to pick out small bits stuck in a tool! I've just gotten one as a gift for my sister - she's gonna love it too! This tool is indispensable!"

"This Microplane Zester/Grater has such sharp teeth that the food is cut cleanly, not mangled wretchedly. Kind to the skin on your fingers -- will not nick you -- because of the excellent design, it is definitely worth purchase but that's not all. It washes up unbelievably fast because food particles are not trapped in the crevices, again, excellent design. My kudoes to the designer."

"I have had a few of these in different sizes for years and I could not be happier. They maintain their sharpness and they are useful for zesting and grating of all types. My only complaint is that the plastic guard they come with (which works well) is a bit of a hassle to slide back on if its fully taken off, but that can be avoided by not fully sliding it off or a slight bit of patience. As a side note, these are so well made that I have used a kitchen specific zester as a rasp in my woodshop and it maintained its sharpness. Absolutely amazing engineering."
