Replaced the rogue April 1, 2009
Trichic from Alexandria, VA

"I got this crockpot as a Christmas gift from my husband. It replaced 2 that I have kept over the years, 1) the old Rival round one that is a great standby and 2) a new stainless steel one I can't remember the model of that was oval shaped and a rogue. I was afraid to leave the house with this thing on for fear it would burn down the house. Even on low everything burned up and boiled to death. I could never touch the sides of it or the lid without some form of hotpad. That's why I'm so pleased with the calphalon cooker. The heat settings run true (stated), the lid sits on the top fine although does get hot so I have to be careful, and clean-up is a breeze."

Big Mistake January 31, 2009
WorkingMom from Los Angeles, CA

Pros: attractive design
Cons: doesn't work

"I received this slow cooker as a Christmas present from my parents. I have owned two lower priced slow cooker models that have served me quite well for the past 25 years. I wanted to upgrade to a larger capacity model that is oblong in shape and has a timer. I made five different dishes in this slow cooker and each one was a failure. The lid does not fit on the crock properly and the liquid tends to disappear and the food is left charred. Whatever sauce is used in the recipe becomes hopelessly burned onto the sides of the crock, leaving a dreadfully difficult cleanup. Also, the heat does not seem to work properly. Even on the low setting the liquid in the cooker boils and the contents become a pot full of mush. This product is brand new on the market and the kinks don't appear to be ironed out yet. I would not recommend this product to anyone until there are design measures in place to control the heating and the seal on the lid. I returned the slow cooker and am going to try a different brand."
