Although the Whirly Pop is a blast from the past, it surely makes great corn with minimum mess! Perfect every time. Few "old maids". Great taste and a healthy snack to boot! My only compaint is that it is hard to store. The bottom fits with my other things, but the top is unweildy.
Pros: Easy to Clean/Wash, Value for Money, Stay-cool handle, Heat distribution, construction, Tight-fitting lid, Appearance/ Design /Style, Heat retention, Performs Well, durability, Functional/Useful, Weight, capacity
Cons: top hard to store

Like the popcorn from your childhood memories

The Whirley Pop popcorn popper is fun and easy to use! I bought it to avoid the chemicals in microwave popcorn and hoped the popcorn would taste like the popcorn I remember making fireside on family camping trips.
Dream come true! The popcorn is delicious, the popper is easy to use and you get to control how much butter and salt are added to make it fit for your families nutritional goals.
You'll appreciate the cost as well. A bag of kernels is just $1 in our grocery store. MUCH less expensive than a pouch of microwave popcorn.

I have owned one of these for many years. It has been excellent, easy to use and easily wipes clean. It has served me so well I searched everywhere for a replacement and finally discovered the exact same one I have at Chefs. Needless to say I purchased a new one.
The original is so old that the plastic gears sometimes slip on the metal shaft. If you enjoy popcorn often then this Whirley Pop is for you!

Super easy to use. Makes great popcorn. You can use the teensiest amount of oil. Fast. Fast as in as fast as the microwave. Clean by wiping interior with a paper towel. Makes a great gift. I suppose you can use the packets that make the 'movie theatre popcorn' but for the purist, a scooch of oil, some real butter and sprinkle of salt and you can be in popcorn heaven.
Is a great gift to give to a family with perhaps a popcorn bowl or a dvd.

DELICIOUS POPCORN

I've had my popcorn popper for a few years, and it makes popcorn better than movie popcorn. Plump, fluffy, crisp popcorn! Flavor to your taste! High heat; Add oil, heat up, add popcorn, when popping starts, turn crank until popping slows, then empty popcorn through steam-vent / opening. My daughter's husband recently requested that she go and get a popcorn popper like "Mom's". He proclaims my popcorn to be the best he has ever tasted! I have to agree with him...it is so much better than microwave popcorn. The vented lid releases moisture, and popcorn is not soggy. In this new-tech age, I tried microwave popcorn for many years. A few years ago, I went back to the old-fashioned method, and I'll never use microwave popcorn again!
Pros: capacity, durability, Easy to Clean/Wash, easy to use, even cooking, Functional/Useful, Heat distribution, Performs Well, quality
Cons: wooden (turning) knob broken

Best Popcorn Popper EVER!

If you get this popper, you'll never eat microwave popcorn again! Here's how I do it: put popper on stove on medium heat (higher heat will warp the bottom), put scant tablespoon of canola oil in, put 1/2 cup fresh popcorn in, start cranking the handle slowly. When it's done popping, I pour the corn into a big bowl, spray the popcorn with Parkay butter-flavored spray, salt with sea salt, flip the corn around in the bowl, repeat the spray and salt and serve. My family goes nuts over it! The vented lid lets steam out, so your popcorn is not tough or soggy. The stirring helps all the kernels pop, and prevents burning. This is our all-time favorite kitchen appliance, and we use it about 3X week. You will love it - get it!-
Pros: lets steam out so corn is not soggy
Cons: takes a little longer to wait for pan to heat up

Popcorn Lover's Best Popper

This is the only way to make popcorn. You control the oil and everything else you want to put into your popcorn. I usually use 1 tablespoon of olive oil to 2/3 cup of unpopped corn but lately I have been using unrefined coconut oil and I just love the taste! Its better than movie theater popcorn. After you popped your corn you can add whatever makes your mouth happy, such as cayenne pepper, cajun spices, garlic and/or onion powder, grated cheese etc. If your popcorn is fresh usually there's no kernels left. Its the only way to eat popcorn.

You may need to practice on a couple of batches to figure out the optimal heat setting on your stove, but it would be difficult to burn the popcorn if you keep stirring. Have had one of these for several years - it justs gets better with time as the bottom gets "seasoned" after so many uses. Requires very little oil and pops perfectly every time (just don't use stale popcorn - no popper will overcome that).

Best Popcorn Friend Ever

Our family are great popcorn fans. I purchased this popcorn maker for my husband for Christmas several years ago. Every time family comes to visit, they request we make popcorn with the Whirley Pop Vintage Stovetop Popcorn Maker. Since my original purchase, I have brought several more for gifts. It has always been a hit. I recently purchased one as an all employee gift to a retiring employee who always made popcorn at work for us in a commercial popcorn popper. He said he has never tasted such good popcorn when using the Whirley Pop Vintage Stovetop Popcorn maker. I also purchased one for my son's family to make sure the tradition is handed down to many generations to come.

Pops up quickly -- tastes just like the movie theater! Makes great buttered, plain, cheddar, hot and spicy and sweet popcorn (and easily). Forget the microwave bags. Once you tried it you will not go back. The one drawback is that you have the pot to wash when you are done and you must be sure to keep kids away from the very hot pot.

Great way to cook popcorn if you hate airpopped. We use olive oil. Once popped salt, no butter. Excellent. - cooks all the corn. Only one problem - the gear on the lid broke under normal use after 3 months..New goal - Trying to track down a new lid or gear replacement.. Meanwhile back to the old pot which we conveniently did not throw out. We would have given it 5 stars if the gear didn't break.
