This thermometer was recommended as a way to stop the transmission of bacterial diseases via undercooked meats. It is easy to use and the temperatures listed on it are accurate for the finishing of meats. It performs quite well and does "instant-read". The back-light comes in handy when grilling in near-dark. I really question the antimicrobial activity of the probe cover but that can be cared for but proper washing and hygiene.
With the high incidence of food-borne diseases, this is a must and a quick way to insure the degree of cooking that is wanted.
I bought 2- one for home and one for the cottage. This might be a great gift!!!!

Just wanted something to watch the temp of milk to try our hand at making some cheese. So we didn't want to spend a lot. Well, You do get what you pay for. This thermometer was something I would expect to get at a cheap superstore. The gasket was to big for the cap over the battery, when closed the contacts wouldn't meet the battery. So, we then tried it without the gasket and it did make contact and stayed on but the digital read kept changing. It would read for example 100 deg. then 94, then 108, it would not settle, I could not trust it even after calibrating it. This product doesn't deserve any stars.

This product is easy to use. The handle extension is particularly nice to help prevent burns. The large digital read-out is easy to read, although a reversible feature would be even better to facilitate use by left-handed cooks.

this product works great when you need to use it, the read out comes right away and when you are not using it it shuts off after a while to save on the battery

Not happy with this. At times the screen blinks 4 different colors like a stobe light, constantaly having to turn if off and back on to reset. Instructions didn't really tell you anything about the different screens and modes...

Best of all is its size! It is smaller than prior thermometers we've used and it is so light weight that it can be pushed into the meat and stand alone while you watch the temperature register - instead of flopping over if not supported.

Nice sturdy thermometer. Like the string so you can wear it around your neck or can be clipped to your clothes. Takes a reading faster than other thermometers I've owned, but not instantaneous. Easy to read and keep clean.
Wish I could find a reasonably prices instant read thermometer, but this one works nicely.

We have tried several other meat thermometers and they all broke within the first 1-2 uses, this one has proven to be the one that lasts! I think the fact that it is waterproof helps a lot.

A great value - I tested it with my "professional" grade probes and it was spot on - albiet a few seconds slower, but still well worth it for most cooks.

This is an inexpensive digital meat thermometer that reads the temp accurately compared to my old standby analog dial thermometer which I have had for 10 years. This device reads the temp almost instantly which is a plus. Easy to use and easy to clean.

Faster reading than my other thermometer. It lacks a shutoff switch, it will only turn off after several minutes.
Hold temp feature is nice.
Large temp range is good, larger than other in the price range.
