A great little rice cooker

This rice cooker consistently produces perfectly cooked rice and keeps it warm (without drying it out) for hours afterward. It also has a non-stick bowl with markings for how much water should be added for different types or portions of rice -- very convenient. Finally, the porridge setting makes probably the best steel cut oatmeal I've ever had.
On the negative side -- as is the case for most rice cookers -- it takes about twice the time to cook the rice (or oatmeal) in the cooker as it would on a stovetop. Also, the controls are a little awkward.
Even so, this cooker has become one of my most used kitchen appliances.

I have cooked rice at least twice a week for 40 years, using a saucepan on the stovetop. It's always come out reasonably well, so I never thought I "needed" a rice cooker. I bought this rather on a whim, and, WOW, am I glad I did. I've used it about a dozen times and the rice comes out extraordinarily perfect each time. The grains are separate and beautifully fluffy, just like you would get in a Chinese restaurant. My stovetop rice is a bit gummy and gloppy in comparison. I've cooked batches as small as a half-cup of uncooked rice and it still comes out beautifully. Usually, I cook one cup of uncooked rice, which is perfect for my son and myself. No muss, no fuss! Push the button and it works its magic. Would hate to have to go back to the stovetop!

I have the larger version of this and love it. I gave this as a gift to a non-Japanese friend and her family loves it. Says it turns out just like restaurant rice. Easy to use and clean.

The first time I used the cooker for brown rice it cooked perfectly. The instructions seem a little daunting, but once you use it, it is ok. The size is perfect for a couple or small family. Not crazy about the music alarm and will try to change the tone.

couldn't make a decent small batch of rice until i bought this product! i call it my little wonder because i can even make 1 cup of rice turn out perfect with this machine, which is just what i needed for me and my husband. no leftovers--woohoo--and very easy to clean. the only drawback is it doesn't have a retractable cord like my larger machine has.

perfect for making rice for a small dinner. the rice comes out perfect every time. i tried to make do with my large cooker, but could never get my rice just right in small quantities (and i'm pretty picky about my rice).
