I have the same product I purchased years ago, but it has plastic handles. This is sturdier and I expect should last years. Both my parents and I have arthritis, this certainly makes opening cans and jars easier.

This opener is a must in the kitchen. I use this several times a week and not just for jars i.e. caps on bottles of glue. This product has been so handy I bought several for Christmas gifts.

I have extremely arthritic fingers and need an opener for most things. When this first arrived, I was so disappointed, the opener appeared flimsy compared to another one I had been using. Using it once changed my opinion. This opener easily grabs the object, compared to others that make the object slip away from the grips. It easily opens anything from nail polish bottles on up. A looser hand grip is required to manipulate the opener.

Had an old jar opener which I refused to throw out until it could be replaced with one as good or better....found it! Works well. Now I can toss the forty year old one handed down to me.

This opener is amazing. As I age I find opening jars and bottles more difficult. This opener has solved that problem since it can open a vast amount of sized lids.

This jar opener did allow me to open jars that had remained closed despite all my best efforts with the old tricks of hot water, banging the edge of the lid and so on. I still had to use some umph, but these were the jars that had defied everything before. The opener has a nice variety of different sized jaws for different lids. The materials and connection at the hinge point strike me as a little tinny and not as substantial as appears in the photos. So far so good, however.

The MIU Stainless Steel Jar Opener is just what the Doctor ordered for arthritic hands. I have just completed Carpol Tunnel Surgery and with the MIU Stainless Steel Jar Opener I had no problems opening any screw top item, from soda bottles to pickle jars...no problem Highly recommended!

The teeth on this opener are so rounded that they don't get a bite on the lid. If you can squeeze hard enough for the teeth to bite, you can open the lid without the opener.

I bought this for my 86 year old mother. She cannot get a grip on the handles because they are too far apart and slippery. I will keep it for myself.

Unfortunately this product's advertised benefits were not realized in actual use. It was too hard to adjust to the various sized jar lids, it was of course necessary to hold the jar and the WIDE handles at the same time and there was little fulcrum on the large jars.
In short, it it is a toy and Chef's should discontinue selling it.
