When I'm in the Kitchen, I become: Crowd Pleaser
i was going to order a different ice cream maker, then saw the reviews for this gelato maker, and since they cost the same, bought this machine. i have a convection oven by the same company, and it has lasted years, and still works great, so i had some confidence in this machine to buy it. the only "con" is that the directions for this simple to use machine need to be a little clearer. they have directions in 4 different languages, but the english one, at least, is kind of vague. the machine is sturdy, and while it makes some noise, it's no louder than a blender. also, the directions kind of made it sound that the machine would STOP at the end of a 40 minute cycle..it doesn't, and if it is left on too long, it can make the gelato too hard, and possibly damage the engine..this warning is there, but it doesn't say you need to use your own timer, that there is no safety stop. all in all, it's a great machine, and i've experimented, and you can use a little more volume of dairy than the sample recipes and it does a good job..but even then, it only makes 1/2 quart at a time...and suggests this is 6-8 servings..not in MY house!!! but still well worth the cost.
In the kitchen, I'm never without: my convection table top oven, also by DeLonghi...i have a great full size oven, but usually end up using the table top one..also, kitchen aid mixer..cookies, cakes, bread, bring it on!!
Favorite Brand: DeLonghi, kitchen aid, at least the mixer.
Pros: Performs Well, Value for Money, quality, Functional/Useful
Cons: needs clearer directions

I will give it a few more tries but thus far it is taking twice as long to make gelato than what the directions indicate. I don't know if my unit was tossed around to much in shipment. I may need to exchange this one and try again.

I had been wanting a self-contained ice cream freezer for some time but had hesitated buying one because of the comments I had read from other users about noise and durability. The reviews on this unit were good so I purchased it. I am so glad I did. It is not noisy and appears to be very well made. Clean-up is easy. I love the convenience of being able to make gelato (which is WONDERFUL) any time I want, with no worries about having a frozen tub available. The gelato is different from ice cream - less air and the flavor is incredibly intense. The recipes that come with the unit are great. I would not hesitate to recommend this unit. Just make sure you have adequate convenient storage space for it.
Pros: Easy to Clean/Wash, easy to use, Appearance/ Design /Style, Functional/Useful
Cons: small capacity

I owned the Cuisinart prefreeze model and wasn't really impressed with it. I am a manager at a kitchen store so I can see some of these machines in person. We carry the Cuisinart refrigerated unit as well as the Delonghi gelato maker.
The Cuisinart unit feels like the parts are not made well.
I went with this Delonghi unit. I works great. Not very loud, easy to clean, very well built, easy to use. I can't find anything bad to say about it. I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this to anyone considering it. Ice cream recipes come out fine with it too.

Easy to use and fast.
Bowl and parts pop out for quick cleaning.
Even my kids (12 + 14 yrs) used it with no help from me - They must have made 2 gallons within first 2 weeks.
My favorite was made with shot of espresso, cocoa, vanilla and semi-sweet chocolate chips as well as cream, egg yolks and sugar. Shall be eating celery for rest of week.
Seems to be very well built. Solid and Heavy. Doesn't sound like it's straining as product gets frozen and thick towards end of processing as with some other machines.
