Love, love, LOVE making better than restaurant fries with ease in my own kitchen. After contemplating the cheaper versions, and reading bad reviews about how the blades break and bend so easy, I decided to go with this one. Great choice. It is so easy to use, and the blades are sturdy and sharp. Cuts through large potatoes and sweet potatoes with ease. My son loves the home made fries. Do yourself a favor, spend the little bit of extra money for a quality product that actually works and will last. You'll be glad you did.

This is a serious kitchen tool found often in restaurants. Mounting it horizontally with the suction cups works well however it requires more than average strength. The handle needs to be "pumped" hard several times before the potato gets through the cutters. Best to mount it vertically with industrial strength bolts maybe in the garage. Then do a chin up holding the handle. This will work. Whatever strategy you follow the result is perfectly cut potatoes.

This is the most awesome french fry cutter I have ever seen or used! Solid, heavy duty. It is very easy to use and fast on cutting the frys! Very easy to clean! Large size but still is easy to handle and store! If needing a large amount of frys, this is the way to go! This will probably last forever, I would recommend this to everyone!

Disappointing Product

I have not been very impressed with this product.
First, the blades are apparently not very sharp so it requires excessive force to push potatoes through. '
Second, the online photo shows the appliance on a wooden cutting board. That's a laugh. Even on a quartz counter top, the rear suction cups pull loose when trying to french a medium sweet potato.
Third, who wants a home appliance that requires disassembly wth a philips-head screw driver in order to clean it. That may be fine if you used it in a restaurant to french 50 pounds of potatoes, but it doen't make any sense for home use and two pounds of potatoes.
This product needs some serious redesign if you're going to continue to market as suitable for home use. At the very least, the phillips-head screws should be replaced with wing nuts.

This works well cuttting faster and more evenly than you could by hand. However, I have not found it possible to run a potato through without cutting it into quarters first, no matter how hard I press. Not a big problem except that you can't get fries the entire length of the potato. Of course, it is much more of a struggle -- and a dangerous one-- using a mandolin. BTW the optional cutting blade makes fries the standard size; the blade that comes with it cuts them smaller; there is no shoestring blade that I know of. This is a large very heavy very impressive unit well worth the money. The strength of the suction cups on a granite counter is almost overwhelming; I slide a thin knife under them to get them loose one at a time holding the device aloft as I do so.

The only way this machine can work is to be permanently mounted. Suction cups don't cut it..!
You need both hands on lever to force a Russet potato through blades and would not cut Sweet Potatoes at all which was my initial intention...... Back to manual cuts with the Bucther Knife..!

I purchased this item specifically because the description said that it could cut sweet potatoes. I've tried several french fry cutters in the past and none has been able to deal with the hardness of a sweet potato. I tried every possible way to slice sweet potatoes and it just isn't possible without precooking the potatoes, adding yet another step instead of making the process easier. Additionally, the appliance is not easy to clean -- I needed a screwdriver to get one of the plates out! All in all, this is not a useful tool for a home kitchen. I only wish I hadn't thrown out the box so I could return it!!!

The french fry cutter is good quality BUT it is really hard to pull and clean. I am really disappointed but plan on keeping the cutter because my husband will help me. It really is hard to pull the potato through the cutter.

After cutting french fries by hand and with a very expensive mandoline and not obtaining the result that I was looking for I decided to purchase this Restaurant Quality cutter. I had read reviews on several others that were described as flimsy or easily breakable. I did not believe the claim on this product about how easily you could cut fries in minutes. IT IS TRUE. Slide the potato into the cutter. Pull the handle and perfect fries!! You do need a little strength, but really it takes MINUTES to cut several potatoes. I would absolutely recommend this and oh yes...it's a snap to clean.

It works as designed. Tried the 3/8" cutter for sweet potatoes and was a little much to push through. Haven't had a chance to use the 1/2 " cutter but it should work OK based off my experience with the smaller cutter. So far I'm impressed with the product.

Heavy duty

This is the most heavy duty french fry cutter I have used. I was so tired of what I tried in the past, they were worthless and one would be better off just cutting them with a knife. I took a 6 inch russet potato with skin on and put it into the cutter. With one hard pull of the handle, the potato spit out perfect 3/8 inch by 6" long french fries. Effortless. I used the suction cups on a hardwood bar top which held just fine. I would love to mount this on a wall. I cooked my french fries on a cookie sheet in the oven with a light oil spray and salt. I set the oven at 400 degree and they came out toasty brown, a little salty and delicious. I turned them half way thru the cooking time which was about 30 minutes. This is the first time I had french fries this long. What a meal.

I don't know if it is just me and my age; but I did not have the stregnth to cut into the potatoes (Yukon Gold). Therefore, I had to return the unit for a refund. Having said that, Chef's are wonderful the way they back their products, and make it easy it the customer finds that it is nit for them. I would not hesistate to make further purchases, as I have in the past, from a company that stands behind their sales.
