Love, love, LOVE these knives! There is a knife for every purpose in my kitchen now. These knives are so sharp that I don't feel like I have to struggle to cut, slice or dice whatever I am trying to prepare. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family.

These knives work very well in all kitchen settings. The kitchen shears are amazing and the knife sharpener that came along with the entire set works well to realign blades.
I think my favorite is the Chef's knife, which can cut everything from spices to steak.

This knife set was purchases as a Christmas gift for a very dear friend who was always complaining about the knives she was having to use. You should have seen the expression on her face when she opened the box and saw the knife set. She used it the next day to prepare Christmas dinner for friends and family and couldn't have been happier with the performance of the knives. Kudos to Chef's Catalog for offering a great gift.

I purchased this set in 2012 for a Christmas gift for my son. When my other son saw them he was so jealous. So, I have purchased a set for him for Christmas 2013! I love the knives but I definitely agree with a previous review.....it would be better to know exactly which slot the knife fits in rather than to use trial and error until you figure out which of the slots fits the knife.

The only issue I have is being able to find the right knife in the block as the slots do not correspond with the knife size. Knives are absolutely wonderful and verrrry sharp!

I have been in the market to buy a good set of knives for quite some time. After doing a lot of research and price analysis, I finally settled on the Wusthof 18 piece set. My first impressions were not the best as the block that came with the knives is not actually made for the knives. It is a generic Wusthof block that can probably be used with several different sets. So some of the knives are held a little loose as the space for them is quite large.
As for the knives themselves, I was very impressed. They are super sharp and after 2 days of having them, I threw away all the other kitchen knives that we had at home. The mix and variety of the 18 piece set is also great as you have a knife for almost every purpose you need.
Purchasing from Chefs was also a pleasant experience, the shipping was prompt and the website is easy to navigate. In addition, Chefs was running a promotion and they also sent me a butchers block (quite small but it was free) and the Wusthof Knife Sharpener, which may come in handy sometime in the future.
The only reason for the 4 stars was because of the block, other than that I am very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone in the market for a upscale knife set.
