After 7 years, I was forced to buy a new coffee maker. My cuisinart grind and brew had finally bit the dust. After researching many brands and styles, I finally decided on the Kitchenaid 12 cup 1110b model. 3 months later, I am not disappointed. I love the design, removable water resovour, the spray feature and the flat basket. After reading the manual, I had no user issues and found it easy to operate. I see alot of complaints about the carafe leaking and dripping while pouring. Again, no issues. My only con to this machine is the condensation that builds up in the brew basket area. When I open the lid, water drips and I have to wipe it down. Big deal. My cuisinart grind and brew had the same problem with the grinder. I had to wash it after every pot brewed if I used it or not. Bottom line, Great cup of hot coffee and I have no regrets with this machine for the money spent.

Pro - For flavour, ease of use and setup, maintenance, and overall quality this is the best coffee maker I've ever had. I've only had it a week, so it is to early to comment on reliability.
Con - There is a gap under the carafe's plastic rim that traps fluid when emptying the carafe or washing it.

This coffee maker makes unusually weak coffee, regardless of the strength or amount of the grounds we use. It is also very clumsy to use, because of the way the lids open. Because we received this as a Christmas gift we don't know where it was purchased and are not able to return it. The worst coffee maker we've ever had in our 30 years of marriage!

This coffeepot has driven me crazy. The door flies open when it is finished brewing and I cannot not pour the coffee without dripping all over the counter. It is much too complicated to set--I had to drag out the book whenever our electricity blinked off for a couple of minutes. The first one I ordered had to be replaced because it spewed coffee all over the counter. I chose to go with Cuininart this time and hope for better quality.

Within three weeks of usage the water pump stopped working and water converted to steam but only a small amount reached the carafe.
Because it worked initially we discarded the invoice and packing box.
Our experience with Kitchen Aid products up to this point has been good, but I would not buy small appliance products again.
