John Boos Aztec Hard Maple Cutting Board : Expert carving, slicing, trimming and a meticulously-clean countertop with this beautiful John Boos Aztec edge-grain maple cutting board. Sturdy, 2 1/4" thick hard-rock maple with center pyramid-cut surface grips meat, ensuring a superior carving station for prime rib, tenderloin, crown pork roast or ham. The generous size of this John Boos cutting board provides ample room to slice an entire turkey. Juice grooves channel liquid away from the center to the deep outer well and into the drip tray, keeping countertop or buffet table dry and clean. Hand grips allow easy transport. Reverses to a smooth surface to knead dough or accommodate prep work. Dice, chop or mince vegetables, trim fruit and slide trimmings right into the stainless-steel tray. Select edge-grain wood from the sugar maple has been chosen for this cutting board due its outstanding durability: the dense, tightly-grained composition preserves cutlery and is naturally resistant to cuts and scratches. This high density also prevents bacteria from penetrating the wood to provide years of service. I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he loved it. He carved up a 16 pound beef roast and it worked perfectly, the meat stayed put and the juices flowed directly into the tray.

Review 2 for John Boos Aztec Hard Maple Cutting Board
I received this cutting board just in time for Thanksgiving. It is extremely heavy but worked very well considering the turkey was secure and definitely wasn't going anywhere. The photo of the cutting board and the drip pan is a bit misconceiving to the eye. It appears that the drip pan is inserted in the board similar to the way oven racks are inserted and that there is a ledge on both sides of the board to slide the pan into. This is not the case. It merely sits on the counter beneath the board. I think I would prefer a groove or something to slide the pan into. Considering the cost of the board, the mineral oil required to treat it prior to use should have been included with the board.

I love John Boos products and have a kitchen island with a butcher block top from this merchant that is the very center of our kitchen. However, the cutting board that I ordered was just too cumbersome, difficult to get clean and HEAVY. It was too heavy for me to put away and get down. I returned it.

We ordered this and sent it back. It was very large and heavy. You would need a large counter to use it and a large cabinet to store it. It would be a nice addition if you have the room to leave it out on the counter. It is a beautiful cutting board.
