This is a good product and every cook should have one. Home made pasta is the best. Over the years, I wore out one machine which is why I purchased this one.

Once the consistency of the dough is the correct, the Extruder works fine. However, it is noisy.

If you want to make spaghetti, vermicelli, fettuccini or any flat pasta I really recommend to use the classic pasta rollers/cutter. This machine is OK if you want to make macaroni, penne, rigatoni or any pasta of the “tube” type because extruding is the only way to make this kind of pasta.
If you are the kind of person that doesn’t read the instructions before using a machine, this pasta maker is definitively not for you. It is not straight forward to disassemble and assembling. To get good results you will need to make several batches until you learn the correct dove consistency.
From the cleaning and sanitizing point of view, this machine has a very poor design. If you need 30 minutes to extrude ½ k. of pasta (1.1 lb.) then you will need 45 minutes to really clean and remove the dove that remained stick to the sharp corners, remove the dove from the holes of the extrusion plate and the extrusion screw housing. There space between the front panel and the mixing hopper is not accessible unless you use a screwdriver. Liquid, flour and dove can reach that area.
Overall this is a nice machine but I will only use it for special occasion when I want to cook fresh tube type pasta.

Their is a learning curve, Make sure the sliding door is closed before you start and add the water very slow and let it mix before you add more. pasta will come together very fast if you add to much. i messed up the first batch but second batch was great. Nothing like fresh pasta

The dough mixing chamber seems pretty fragile. The instructions included with this machine are not clear. It worked okay but I'm expecting something to break with frequent use.

I am a good cook but baking not so much. This machine allows me to make great homemade pasta like a pro with very little effort. I do love fresh pasta in my dishes. This works great.

This is very hard to use. My husband still wants to keep it because he's more optimistic that I am. He thinks he will eventually tame it. I'm not going to be involved.

I, like many of you, was VERY excited about this machine and could hardly wait for it to arrive. That's as far as the excitement lasted. It arrived last week, I read the directions and started to take it apart, in order to clean it before use. I got as far as the basket...I pressed the long black bar and NOTHING!!!! I reread the instructions to make sure I'd done everything correctly, and I had. I have since called (but no one answers, they want us to leave a msg), written to Viante twice and heard nothing back.
I will be sending it back. I just hope I'll get a refund. I want nothing more to do with this product! I'm very disappointed!!!

We bought the Viante Pasta Maker 2 years ago from Chef's. We used it 6-8 times. The fact that we used it only frequently is a reflection on us--not the machine because it is so easy to use and makes excellent pasta. Cleaning it is not an issue.
Last week, it made a horrible noise, so we turned it off and followed the manufacturer's instructions. When we started it up again, the noise reoccurred, and the paddle would not turn.
I called the manufacturer and explained that the machine was 2 years old and that we had used it only about 6-8 times. WITHOUT hesitation, he asked me to send him an email with the model number, what the problem was, and our home address. He is sending us a whole new unit--free of charge.
Very few manufacturers will honor a 2-year old product. Viante has made me a fan for life.
By the way, I read several review before purchasing the machine. Several people commented about the noise. The model (CUC-25PM) we have is noisy, but it is a machine, and the noise is not that intrusive. Brew and serve coffee pots also make noise.

I'll admit it took a little finagiling the first attempt to make pasta, but once I got it down it worked great! It makes a large amount of pasta in very little time. It also comes apart for cleaning with very little fuss. I'm really glad I got this machine!

The machine does work but it's not as easy as you'd think. You have to learn the right amount of water to add then after taking it apart a few time you learn the amount but of course you don't write it down.

I purchased this last Christmas for my husband who is a pasta lover. It wasn't really worth the money. We used the machine 3 times in order to give it a fair trial. This is what we have decided:
The dough clumps when it is dispensing, sticks to itself and is very difficult to get a good quality noodle out.
Cleaning the pasta maker is difficult. It is hard to get it truly clean.
It is a fantastic concept but you get a far better noodle using another style of pasta maker.

It took me three times to figure this machine out. Suggestions for your first use:
1. Make sure all parts are in correctly and it turns on before you add the ingredients.
2. Make sure the slide is all the way closed before adding ingredients.
3. Look for "pea sized dough" before you open the slide.
4. Start with a larger pasta first time as it seems easier to process.
After that it is simple! Enjoy!

Sorry but I can't give this product a good review. Very difficult to get the proper consistency to make the pasta. Made several batches to no avail. Cover difficult to open also.

Very hard to get mixture right and keeps plugging up. If you get the mixture right it makes pasta very slowly. Buy yourself a hand crank unit. If you still want one I'll sell you mine.

I was really excited to receive this pasta machine. Unfortunately it has turned out to be a big waste of money. I have found it impossible to achieve the right amount of ingredients to make the machine work as advertised. I even tried my usual pasta recipe and put it in the machine to extruded....no go. I eventually got enough noodles to make my supper but it took HOURS! The machine overheats very easily and you have to unplug the machine and wait quite awhile for the motor to cool down. I have been so frustrated with this machine that I have not attempted to try it again for several months now. My Kitchen-Aid pasta roller and cutter is much more user friendly. Save you $ and skip this expensive gadget :-(
