The size of these pans was useful, and I didn't mind that they had straight sides instead of sloped sides. They have a nice wide rim, good for sealing juice pies. But the cutter for making top crusts is is just silly. After I pressed it into the pastry, it took me twice as long to poke all the little squares out of the lattice top as it would have taken me to just cut pastry strips and weave a regular lattice top.
For this price, you could just get a set of 4 small pie pans and skip the pattern cutter.

The "7 inch.' pie plates are actually only 5 and one half inches. The finish scratches off when the "pie" is cut. The plates are shaped like cake pans not pie plates - there is no slant.

I recently purchased a Nordic Ward Mini Pie Baking Kit, three piece. I have not used it yet, but it's ready to go for later today. When not baking for the whole family, these items are going to be ideal for smaller portions for just my husband and I. We are retired, so I'm learning to cook in smaller quantities. I also plan on using the baking kit for pasties and pot pies, I'm anxious to get started with yet another new CHEF'S product bought at a very good price, and, postage was free!

This is an excellent purchase for empty nesters and having the ability to just make two various small pies instead of one large one; or one small one for individuals "dieting." I would definitely recommend this product.
