I received one of these as a gift and have found that I use it every day! In addition to easily opening jars I use it to remove broken light bulbs. Turn off the power and put the end of the jar opener in the piece left in the fixture and spread the handle--just twist and the broken part easily comes out. Much better than using a potato.
I bought 4 of these as gifts this Christmas! A must have!
I was so delighted to find this at CHEF's! My Mom has one and I have wanted one for a while. It is wonderful for opening all sizes of jars, etc. I love it to remove that stubborn wine cork that you just can't get to budge. It is great for Mom with her weak hands due to several surgeries. It is well made and should last like hers has. It would make a great gift.

For years, I contemplated buying a jar opener. Finally, I broke down and purchased the Vice-grip Jar Opener. Why did I wait so long!? This item is wonderful with a big plus. Even if you have little trouble opening jars, it is worth the investment to purchase one of these. A happy woman

This looks as if it has been run over and you cannot get it to grip a jar to open it. I have never seen such a poorly made item. I would swear it is the thickness of two beer cans. It does not open jars unless you are truly determined. Takes me 15 minutes to open a large jar. DO NOT ORDER THIS ITEM

My hands are not very strong when it comes to losening jar lids so I was very happy to see this item in the Chef's catalog. The Chef's vice grip jar opener is so much better than the flimsy worn out piece of thin rubber I had been using. It is stury, washable, easy to use and is adjustable to fit just about any size lid. Well worth $19.95!
