This blender is a marked improvement over the very good 5200 i owned before getting this model. It makes blended things smoother and it really is quite a bit quieter than the 5200. I love the short jar as I think its one of the keys to better blending.

I took a long time to decide to buy the vitamix for the money that it cost. I now am totally elated that I bought it. It is a very powerful blender and it makes green smoothies perfectly. Juicing leaves mostly sugar and making a green smoothie gives you all the nutrients. And the greatest thing is Chef's catalog backs the products and guarantees for life. Don't put it off. PS I almost never rate any thing excellent!

I love this machine so far. Of corse it makes great smoothies but does so much more than that. I make sauces , mix cakes , salsa., flavored butters to put on fish. It's worth the money!

Like many, I thought what's the big deal, it's just a blender. That's before I knew all the Vitamix can do, and what a time saver it is in the kitchen.
Since I'm eating a more vegan diet for health reasons and seldom eat meat, I'm using this daily for vegetable juices, sorbets, and so on, but it's been great for making soup, purees, and the hummus was delicious -- the most light and airy hummus ever (though Vitamix is conservative in their seasonings so I've learned to double the lemon juice, cumin, and so on).
The Vitamix recipes tend to be on the bland side but seem more designed to illustrate a method, and that carries over. You're also free to doctor them up and by now I've learned to incorporate the Vitamix into my own traditional ways of cooking.
That you can make hot soup in a Vitamix that never has to go on a stove is pretty amazing, and white it would seem these would always be purees, you mix them up by pureeing the soup (which heats from friction) and THEN adding other things at the end to make it a soup with texture and chunkiness.
It's very versatile, and most things take just one minute to three minutes to make, then cleanup takes another minute. That's it. It really is self-cleaning.
As many doctors have said, it's hard for people to get all the nutrition available to them from eating their greens in salads, but that jumps up considerably when the same vegetables are made into a smoothie.
This truly is a life changing and health-giving machine. I don't regret the purchase in the least, and considering the warranty and that it's covered for 7 years, this is not so very expensive over the life of the machine.

Love my new vitamix!!!! I paid the extra money to get the bigger motor, presets, and to have it fit under the counter, all of which I love. I have four kids and we are using it every day for smoothies and blizzards. Can't wait to make almond milk and try soup! I love that I can set it to "clean" and walk away while it does its thing!

It is important to watch the demonstration video to get the most out of this blender. One idea I wish the manufacturer had thought of - a laminated card I could tape on the inside of the cabinet door that this sits under, with a description of the proper setting that the icons stand for. The only one I can seem to remember automatically is the "wash" one. And it is such a joy to wash, especially compared to prior blenders we have used.

Love it but it is really noisy. Don't plan on talking to anyone while it is running. Also the volume markings on the unit are hard to read. Even so it works as advertised.

after much thought, research, and agonizing, i finally broke down and purchased a Vitamix. i purchased it here at chefs. i have wanted one for YEARS, but i was afraid i wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost. well, i am glad i got over that concern, because it is worth every penny! looking back, i actually can't even believe that was one of my concerns considering i like to have control over and know what is in my food. i have always been a label reader. one of the main reasons i wanted a Vitamix was so i could eat healthier.
i looked at all of the different Vitamix models and really, they are mostly the same motor, but each model has slightly different features. i knew i wanted the shorter version of the 64oz container. i didn't want to compromise the amount the container would hold and get the 48oz container. i felt like i was going to need a step stool to reach the standard, taller container. on the machine, it was just way too tall.
once that was decided, i narrowed it down from there. i was going back and forth between having the presets or not. i never really used them on my previous blender. i just kept an eye on what i was blending. did i really need them? was it overkill? then i thought about my days working at a major coffee house where the baristas wear green aprons. we used Vitamix machines with presets. the nice thing about the presets is you can walk away from the machine and do something else and it stops automatically. but still, could i justify it? because all of the machines i narrowed it down to were in the same general price range, what was another $100?! i mean, i was already spending a ridiculous amount of money on a countertop appliance. also, i have to admit, i found the 750 the most aesthetically pleasing. i knew i was going to leave this on the counter because i was going to use it often, so looks were important. believe me, i am not one to leave anything out on the counter aside from a knife block and coffee maker. the toaster even gets stored in the cabinet! but like i mentioned, you are going to want to use this every day, so it really should be easily accessible.
i am glad i bought the 750 and have absolutely no regrets. i have been using both the presets and the 1-10 dial, but certainly the presets have gotten the most use. the cool thing about the machine is if you are making a smoothie, for example, the machine determines how much is in the container and adjusts the blending time accordingly. it's not like each setting is a standard time. i thought the self-cleaning setting was totally overrated, but i have been using it every single time! sure, you can just set the machine to a setting from 1-10 and it will still get it clean, but like i said, i put it on self-clean mode, do something else, then once it's done, i finish cleaning it in the sink. needless to say, i don't feel like the presets are a waste at all. actually, they are an added luxury. i have had the machine for two months now and i have used it pretty much daily and sometimes more than once a day. i have made various types of smoothies, nut butters, hummus, soups, and the other day i made a vegetable mash for my dog that i can add to his dry food to jazz it up. the possibilities and capabilities are endless! i have only begun to touch upon what this machine can do!
getting back to my time wearing a green apron, i knew back then i wanted a Vitamix just for the ice crushing capabilities alone. i actually broke my previous blender (which was a decent, and fairly expensive - not compared to this, but compared to other blenders) by trying to blend frozen fruit. what's the point of a blender when you can't blend frozen fruit, let alone ice?! i knew if i was going to invest in another blender, it would have to crush ice and i wanted a machine that was going to last. i wasn't convinced many of the standard blenders out there would hold up. the vitamix can make snow in about 10 seconds (probably less). it's amazing. and it comes with a 7 year warranty. just a side note, if you don't want to or cannot afford to spend the going rate on a new one, you can buy refurbished units for much less directly from vitamix and they come with a 5 year warranty. i am not typically a fan of refurbished, but after my research they seem like a decent deal.
the greatest thing about the machine is how versatile it is. i am not a kitchen gadget person by any means. i buy what i need and don't really want any clutter. being able to make soup, smoothies, almond butter, sauces, ice cream, etc. in the same machine is pretty great and ultimately completely worth the cost. now that i own the Vitamix 750, i regret the time i spent thinking about purchasing it.

I've had my Vitamix 730 for 3 months and I use it daily. The blender is great. The programmed settings are handy. Everything functions as expected for a high-end blender at this price.
HOWEVER, the "brushed stainless" finish is NOT stainless steel. It is plastic painted with a metallic paint. Given the price, I would expect the housing to be stainless steel.

Like everyone who has hesitated before spending this much for a blender, I wondered if it could possibly be worth it. I've had my Vitamix for only a week, but I am so impressed with the differences compared with my old blender. My husband and I started making green smoothies for a healthier diet, and the ones we made in our old blender were still quite chunky and the ingredients tended to separate. With the Vitamix, they are so much smoother and taste better because of it. I made guacamole that was delicious. The cleaning preset is amazing; never have I had an appliance that's so easy to clean. Even my skeptical husband is sold, based on the cleaning alone. In my experience, if a product is a hassle to assemble, use, or clean, it doesn't get used. This will be an everyday use in our house. Also, the service and delivery from Chef's Catalog was excellent.

Yes it is expensive, but I completely feel the VM 750 is worth the price. The presets, while not absolutely necessary, do work nicely in conjunction with the variable speed and the pulse controls. Pulse, besides traditional "pulse on", also allows you to pause momentarily while on a preselected speed. This is useful for really getting all of your ingredients grinding. Upon the very first use you realize the power of this machine--you don't even question it--it is very impressive. This is such a capable, high quality appliance with so many uses and backed by a solid 7 year warranty that I just wish we would have gotten one years ago. I highly recommend this product!

Love this machine. I have been making smoothies and soups almost every day since my Vitamix arrived. My husband and all my volunteers are elated with the results. I make fruit smoothies for breakfast, but always sneak in some kale or spinach to make it even more wholesome and no one notices. So many things you can make. Cleaning is a breeze, was pleasantly surprised to see even the lid gets clean when you use the cleaning option.

Seriously, top of the line Vitamix? I paid an arm and a leg, but I'm expecting this thing to last ages. It blends the smoothest smoothies. I haven't tried soups yet, but I have tried ice cream/sorbet - perfect. I love the different settings for different recipes, as well. Oh, and the cookbook that comes with is phenom!

I don't know how I ever lived without the Vitamix. I am very happy to have paid the extra price for the presets and the lower and wider top pitcher. So easy to just push a button and it's done for me, and the new style pitcher makes it so easy to get the product out. I have made smoothies every day for the last 6+ months and have never had a smoother smoothie than this makes. With the Vitamix, the green smoothies (with Kale) taste better than ever--the green flavor takes a back seat and the fruit flavors are sweeter. We've made purees and sorbets of the best quality using simple ingredients. The pulse feature has made chopping vegetables so quick and easy. I rewarded myself with this after a 50 pound weight loss, and I say it is my "vegucation" tool to help me to my next 50 "new numbers" on the scale. My chef husband had never used a Vitamix before, and he is equally pleased, and is even drinking and making green smoothies with me.

I had the previous model Vitamix that I was just fine with, but when my husband saw this new updated version, he just made me get it, despite my protests that we didn't need a new one. Well, this new one just blew me away! I love the pre-programmed settings, the wider jar, and the easier-to-use lid. I make a smoothie every morning, and this new model seems to make it even creamier than the old one did. Definately an improvement over the old style!

For years I've wondered if a Vitamix would be worth the "investment." After a mere week of use I can, without any hesitation, affirm that it is.
Using the Vitamix to prepare breakfast smoothies, nut butters, dinner soups has truly multiplied my time in the kitchen. It is like having an extra set of hands! The preset cleaning button sealed the deal, though, for I can prepare a quick meal, serve and clean up before everyone is seated.
Already saving to purchase one for gifts for each of my adult children!
