This is the second 5200XL I have purchased. I have had the first one for four years and it is still excellent. I purchased a second 5200XL because I wanted a white one to brighten up my counter top. (I have soapstone counters and I did not care for the matte gray one sitting on the counter). That one will be passed on to my daughter.
It does an excellent job of slicing uniform slices of cheese, potatoes, etc., and the grating discs are great for shredding cheese and hard vegetables. The Parmesan disc is super for grating Parmesan and Romano cheeses quickly, and is purchased seperately. I do bread crumbs and onions, etc. with the blade. It whips cream perfectly. I do not make bread in it as I have an Ankarsrum for kneading whole wheat bread dough.
The plastic parts are sturdy and the discs and blades are very heavy duty. I'm not sure why someone would find these components "flimsy". There is NO way you could easily bend them, and I have never had a problem with any of the plastic bowls cracking or breaking.....to my knowledge all food processors on the market have plastic bowls. I hand wash the parts as I feel dishwashers ruin good cookware as well as plastics.
Several years ago I bought another popular brand of food processor and hated it. It never got used. It was a pain to put together and take apart. The Magimix is fast and simple to use.
I highly recommend this food processor. None are "perfect", but I feel this one comes close.

I bought this Magimix 16 cup food processor as a gift for my son and my daughter in law and our 4 months old grandson who just started to eat minced fruits and vegetables.
My children who cook and bake frequently report that this is the best kitchen appliance they ever had.
It really exceeds every expectation.

I purchased this based on reviews since I had no way to see one in person. I was replacing an old Cuisinart that still worked, but was having difficulty. The newer Cuisinart reviews and my checking one at a local store convinced me that Cuisinart was no longer made with the quality of my old one.
This Magmix is huge and has lots of accessories, if that's what you're looking for. However, the quality is not worth the price if you're looking for a food processor that is a workhorse like the old Cuisinarts. I did not open the accessory boxes (except the blades). This review is based just on the main food processor.
Cons:
The thin, cheap (easily bent) black plastic, "lock" mechanism won't last long.
When lid "locked" on bowl, it was not "sealed" but had loose "gap".
The blades were "flimsy"; almost seemed as if I gave it any kind of flexibility test they'd bend...and I'm a 65-year-old "weakling" :).
The extra work bowls. I thought I'd like having the different sizes but they were more of a nuisance to me with needing separate blade and needing the larger work bowl to work. I was used to cleaning out my one Cuisinart work bowl between batches so they weren't enough of a plus to convince me to keep this food processor at this price. And so I returned it the very next day.
I decided to look at Commercial options and was surprised to find a reasonably priced one that's advertised as a Waring Cuisinart Commercial Food Processor. Reviews convinced me to give it a try. Right out of the box I could see it was what I wanted, and with the newer features of food processors. It cost less than the Magmix, but has the quality I was looking for. The locking mechanism is like my old Cuisinart, and the blades are solid. No matter how small the amount I'm chopping, the larger bowl with lock in S-blade handles the job. One complaint I've read about the "sealed" lids is food gets caught in them. This "seal" is set into the lid so that it doesn't come in contact with the food. This is an amazing machine!

I have had this for quite some time. It is fabulous. Replaced another brand of processor that didn't hold up to the amount of use I give. The other brand was a 16 Cup and more expensive, it only lasted about a year before the motor slowed down to where it was useless. This processor will not disappoint for large or small batches!

I've been using my new Magimix almost every day. It is so easy to use, everything fits together well and it is very precise in operation and easy to clean. It is a big improvement over my last processor. I've only had it a week, so have many things left to try.
