Love this bread knife!

"I will never buy another brand of bread knife again. I got the bread knife and some other Wusthof items for Christmas. Of course I had to try it out, it sliced through the bread without tearing, ripping or smashing it. I had so much fun using it, that I ended up slicing the bread into croutons. Love this knife!"

"My husband and I are avid cooks who enjoy entertaining friends and cooking for each other, and we have purchased and discarded many inferior brands of knives. When we purchased our Wusthof bread knife, we knew that our search for an excellent knife was over! The Wusthof cuts homemade bread and other delicate foods with ease. We won't use any other brand of knife now, and we are converting our adult children's kitchens, as well, one Wusthof knife at a time, especially if we find ourselves cooking in them. Good things just must be shared!"
"This is a great knife for slicing through crusty artisan loaves and all kinds of breads, but also very useful for slicing tomatoes and other thin-skinned fruit. It works well in slicing semi-frozen meat and poultry, and making thin slices of meat. It is indispensible in my kitchen, and I bring it, along with my chef's knives, when I travel where I'll be cooking."

"I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone looking for a good quality bread knife. I've owned a Wusthof Serrated Bread Knife since 1989 and it still works as well as the day I bought it in Germany. This is the only bread knife I keep in my house."

Bang for the Buck

"This knife is the best bread knife I have ever owned. It is evenly weighted and the full tang construction makes it feel so solid. No matter what I cut (even when if I am slicing through homemade thick crusted sourdough) it takes so little pressure and work. I look forward to using this knife every time i make delicate cakes and hearty breads."

"I have been baking bread for as long as I can remember. This is the perfect knife for slicing! I wish my Mother would have experienced the performance this knife delivers. Bread is no match for this knife

"This is a fantastic bread knife, and the only one we expect to ever need. Excellent balance, clean look, long for wide loafs and cakes, and ever sharp.
Proof of excellence is when cutting a tender bread with a hardy crust. Just glide gently and it cuts through the crust and then slides through the bread without requiring much pressure. This ensures you won't squish the bread and yet delivers smooth, even slices without lots of tender crumbs (crust crumbs are inevitable).
Use it one a John Boos Block and you are in bread slicing heaven."

Don't Try to Sharpen

"I have a number of Wusthof and other quality knives and this is the least favorite of the approximately 20 professional grade knives that I own. After about eight years, the knife began to dull and I tried to sharpen the flat side with a wet stone. Big mistake. This knife has always been stored in a block with the blade side up, so sharpening should not have been a problem in the first place. Consequently, my experience has been that the serrated blade does not hold a good edge. Now I need to have the knife re-ground."

A "wonder" for bread and other things

"I have used this bread knife for about ten years now, and it is still perfect for slicing homemade bread without tearing or squashing the loaf. However, it has other tricks in its repertoire: slicing a layer of a cake sideways to make multiple layers (it's long enough to get to the middle of the layer and doesn't destroy the crumb), slicing tomatoes from the garden thinly, slicing slightly frozen pieces of chicken, beef or veal into thin paillards, or slicing angel food cake without tearing it are easily accomplished. Buy this knife! It's worth the price."

I Finally Got it Right

"This is an amazing bread knife, it cuts smoothly and cleanly. It does not destroy softer breads, by ripping it apart of crushing the bread. A very easy cutting knife no effort at all to get through bread."
