Wusthof Classic Serrated Bread Knife

Wusthof Classic Serrated Bread Knife : The perfect all-around bread knife cuts smoothly through everything from slender, crusty baguettes to softer sandwich breads. The serrated edge also makes it terrific for slicing tomatoes. For large, round artisan breads, the blade gives you the length and control you need. The serrated edge penetrates heavy crusts without tearing the softer interior. About Wusthof Classic: Precision-forged blades of Wusthof's own high-carbon, stain-resistant steel alloy, for a lasting edge that is easy to resharpen. Distinctive bolster prevents your hand from slipping onto the blade. Handle is a virtually indestructible composite, buffed by hand for a smooth finish and triple-riveted to the full tang for optimum strength and balance. Dishwasher safe, but hand-washing is recommended. Made in Solingen, Germany.

I love this bread knife. I first bought it when I lived in Europe in the mid-80's. It is wonderful for cutting all kinds of bread. I bought a second home recently and found I really missed my knife when I forgot to bring it. Now I have one at each house. My original knife is still in great shape. I wash it by hand and seldom sharpen it, but it still performs like new. It is comfortable to hold and the right length for most breads I cut. I fully expect the new one to be just as well used and long lasting.

My husband used to be sous chef at a country club and is DEVOTED to the knives he acquired on that job. But the serrated knife was getting dull after 30 years, and I bought the 9" model. Quality and construction won hubby over immediately. The Wusthof is longer, heavier and better balanced than the older knife--feels great in the hand. A pleasure to use.

I bake my own bread 2-3 times a week (not with a bread maker). I 'love' my new knife. I have 30yo Wustoff's and Henkels set but none of them came with an actual bread knife. I've been using the serated Wustoff knife or my Grandmother's 70yo Ecko bread knife and they don't compare with this knife.
Pros: balanced, Riveted, easy to use, Warranty, multi-purpose, construction, size, Performs Well, durability, Forged, Full tang, Easy to Clean/Wash, Value for Money, quality, Appearance/ Design /Style, Ergonomic handle, easy to store, Functional/Useful, Long-lasting, Weight
Cons: packed with a bowl and the carton was too small., my blade was curved inside the box. thankfully the, blade did straighten out.

This is the one Wusthoff knife my kitchen lacked and the I thought I least needed, but my wife thought it would be a good idea, so we ordered one. I was pleased when it came - a new knife is always a joy - but I was overjoyed by its simple elegance. It has balance and heft enough to do the job effortlessly, but without tiring my hand; the sign of a superior knife. Good bread deserves a good knife and this is it.

Wusthof Classic Serrated Bread Knife

This is a great knife for slicing through crusty artisan loaves and all kinds of breads, but also very useful for slicing tomatoes and other thin-skinned fruit. It works well in slicing semi-frozen meat and poultry, and making thin slices of meat. It is indispensible in my kitchen, and I bring it, along with my chef's knives, when I travel where I'll be cooking.

If you're tired of struggling not to crush the loaf while you cut off a slice, or wish you could cut thinner slices, this is a great knife. I used it on my fresh and still quite warm loaf of sourdough bread and it dug right in and cut smoothly. I also found I could cut much thinner slices than my old knife. This may be an expensive knife but I'll enjoy using it for many years.

Best Bread Knife ever

This is the hands-down best bread knife I've ever used, and I've used half a dozen over the years. It will not tear the bread, even soft rolls, and cuts through hard crusts and bagels like butter. Ergonomically well designed. Nine-inches is long enough for the largest loaves; eight is too short and larger is unwieldy and unnecessary. Wustoff directions say you can sharpen this yourself on a good steel, but I think it will keep its new edge quite a while. Overall I'm very satisfied with my new knife. I bake bread very frequently, and like to slice any bread -homemade or purchased-myself. I wish it came with its own shield, as it is hard to store; too long for any knife block.

I have this knife in two standing sets in my kitchen but want this particular knife in every drawer as well. I am a plastic surgeon that likes to cook, and I use serrated instruments in the operating room as well as my kitchen because they are superior instruments, that cut everything precisely and with ease.

I'd been looking at this knife for years and held off because of price. Along came a great sale and free shipping. Now I'm sorry I ever waited. This knife glides through crusty loaves producing even slices with ease. The extra length blade handles large free-form loaves too but still deals with that small breakfast muffin or bagle. Boy, do I like this knife!

I started baking my own loaves about a year ago, and have struggled along with my 8" serrated knife. Finally decided to purchase the 10" knife, and it is stupendous. No more slicing half, repositioning the blade, slicing the other half. Definitely would recommend this length for a bread knife.

I like the weight and quality of all the Wusthof knives.
This longer knife blade is very good. It makes it easier to make straight cuts of bread in the traditional shape.
When you cut a loaf of bread horizontally, the longer knife gives you more leveridge and a better cut.
If you use more rustic bread shapes and textures, the longer knife is almost essential to a decent cut.

in my bread slicing guide. Cuts through hard crust
with little effort. Almost falls through tomatoes. The best

I've been saving up for a bread for some time now. I have acquired two other Wusthofs over the years and they're still the knives I use every day in the kitchen. The bread knife is a treat to use. And yes, it was worth the wait :D An excellent product and timely delivery make for one happy customer.
