Most Used Cookware at Home December 3, 2007
Mags from Miami,FL

"I purchased this pan with the idea of non-stick in mind especially when cooking scrambled eggs.
I loved it so much that I bought another one and have been cooking everday with it from eggs, meats, chicken, sauted vegetables, steamed, etc. It is great for frying NY Strip steak with only salt and no oil. It works great in oven (under 500 degree). It browns meat better than the heavy pans like cast iron I have used before. I highly recommend this pan to anyone who enjoys fast, good tasting food. My husband actually asked me if I was cooking by recipe when I fried pork chops in it...it was delicious."

Very Happy June 2, 2008
kansasbaker from Kansas

"These frypans are wonderful.I expect to get years of use out of them. They heat up well and will not warp.I wish I had bought these years ago.I bought the 12.5" fry pan and the 10.5" square fry pan.I really love the square pan as it is thicker and deeper and the shape is very handy.I recommend these pans to everyone who wants quality cookware."

best non-stick for the price June 2, 2008
clmbr from milwaukee WI

"I have owned the 10" skillet for almost 10 years. It is the fry pan I chose to cook with most of the time (the other is cast iron). I have owned other non-stick pans that peeled not long after purchase but this one is very durable if you clean it promptly using soap.
I have probably put the pan to the ultimate test. Its most frequent use is to make crepes and it works like a dream. The handle is comfortable to use and the weight and balance are perfect.
After 10 years of intense use I am noticing some tiny blisters in the center of the pan. Judging from the previous reviewer's comments it sounds as though their customer service is very good if you have any problems. As I have not used a better pan to date I am giving it 5 stars."

Scanpan stands by its product April 1, 2008
InthePantry from Europe

"I agree with an earlier review -- Scanpan was great to begin with, but my first purchase ultimately lost some of its non-stick properties and peeled - But, on the whole I would say Scanpan holds up and performs the best in its price range. I lived in Denmark, the home of Scanpan and bought the large square dutch oven, perhaps not available in US. I loved it so much I went out and bought a whole set of Scanpan's cookware. Within about 10 months, the first pan started to bubble and peel. But, true to their guarantee, Scanpan replaced it free. The new pan seems to be an improved edition and has held up fine over a year. I like the weight of the pans which distribute the heat evenly and the glass lids are spectacular for keeping flavors in while being able to view what's cooking."

I really love this pan March 20, 2008
ILIKETOCOOK from Redding, CA

"I have been looking for a set of cookware for a few years now and found the Scdanpan cookware set which sounded interesting so i purchased the 14 inch pan. I am very impressed with how things I cook in it turns out and how the pan cleans up. I have cooked everything from eggs up to chicken and the eggs come out great and the chicken turns out crispy and a golden brown with a lower heat than other pans I have tried. I have not had any troule with the finish, it still looks as good as the day I bought it. I am looking forward to purchasing the whole set! I like it so much. Thank you Scanpan!"

Good pan but ultimately nonstick peels December 3, 2007
Beth from Forest Hills, NY

"This is a good midweight pan which sears nicely and releases well. I was optimistic because the nonstick surface held up much longer than most. Never using metal utensils and always hand washing has helped. Nonetheless, after about a year, the surface started to bubble up in areas and ultimately the coating peeled off those portions of the pan. Since these areas are not the majority of the pan - I still find it useful at times but I have replaced it as an everyday pan. I was optimistic for many months but ultimately - it began to react as most nonstick pans, that is losing its nonstick coating. Description should no longer state "will not...blister...peel" as it ultimately will."

Best Pan I ever bought December 2, 2007
GaryNJ from Stillwater NJ

"I recently bought several scanpans at the recommendation of a friend. They are the best frying and saute pans I have ever seen or used. I chose them over many other brands including all-clad. The non-stick performance has been excellent. I love the glas lids of the classic series saute pans too. You just can't find a better pany anywhere."

Scanpan December 1, 2007
Kays from Seattle, WA

"I bought a scanpan several years ago and I liked it so much I bought 2 more. The first one I bought was accidentally overheated so it looks very dark and nasty but it still works fine. The other two after a couple of years formed tiny bubbles where the non-stick stuff came off. I can not recommend these expensive pans because of that. I have taken very good care of the second two pans and wash them only by hand but they still failed me."

No complaints November 30, 2007
Eljay from Broomfield, CO

"I've been using my Scanpans for about 5 years. I love them. They do tend to discolor a bit, however, I don't notice that making them any less non-stick. Mine are the Scanpans that can't go in the dishwasher. Not a problem - they're very easy to clean and since my husband usually dries them and puts them away, it's an easy clean up! The glass lids let me see what's going on while they're on the stove and the lids CAN go in the dishwasher. Scanpans withstand high heat and can go into the oven. I've even baked bread in my Scanpan stockpot at 500 degrees with no adverse affects to either the pan or the bread! My classic fry pan is one of the most-used utensils in my cooking arsenal."

Just an OK pan November 30, 2007
JustVisitor from Cleveland, OH

"I've bought this pan about 3 years ago and still using it but I'm not a real happy camper. May be at the beginning it was a real non-stick pan, as it was claimed but after less then a year it doesn't keep it any more. It still an OK pan, you can cook in it but not without heavy oiling it first.
Just recently I came to another disappointment with this pan after making breakfast pancakes - tried to avoid using too much oil and just smeared the pan with the oily towel but then I had a problem with getting my pancakes out without leaving part of them sticked to the pan.
At least it didn't peel like my other scanpan covered sauce pot."

Scanpan November 16, 2007
JohnL from Monson, MA

"I've had this pan and use it daily (over 2 years now). It looks and bahves like the day I bought it. I have a full set (10 pc) that is 5 years old and in the same condition. The first generation (brown finish) is not as durable. They have good thermal properties as well, and are suited for everything from scrambles to stir fry. I have recommended them and given them as well received gifts."

My favorite cookware November 9, 2007
musiclady from Blacksburg, VA

"I purchased a complete set of the Scanpan cookware 8 years ago. To this day, they are still my favorite pans to use for everything that I want to prepare. I love the heavy, heat-equalizing quality and truly flat bottoms to each pan (these pans have never warped, no matter what heat level I use). The nonstick coating continues to function as advertised (the company itself says that it may not act "nonstick" as quickly as other types -- ie., Teflon -- but that over time it will continue to maintain a high level of non-stick-ness well beyond any competitor). My only complaint is that the pans have turned a bit dark in color over the years. Occasionally I need to re-season them (coat in vegetable oil, and bake at extremely low temperatures for an hour, then turn off the oven and leave overnight). This restores the nonstick feature completely. I will reiterate the same cautions as other reviewers -- do not put them in the dishwasher or use harsh scrubbers (plastic is fine, as is the steel wool that they provide with the cookware although you'll need to re-season after use), and be sparing with metal utensils so that you don't scratch the surface."

Do you need one? October 5, 2007
Anonymous Reviewer from New York

"I've had three of these so I know something about them. Ask yourself why I've had three when they have a lifetime guarantee. If you're referring to the lifetime of a parakeet, yes, they last a lifetime. It's about two years. At something over a year you start to see little bubbles in the surface of the coating, then it dulls and eventually becomes as unnonstick as anything else. Don't put them in the dishwasher. Don't let them overheat. Don't use metal. Don't think of this as your utility pan, use this only when you really need nonstick.
Why have I had three? Because they are really good when they're new/newish. If the idea of ingesting Teflon bothers you, you should have a Scanpan."
