Granite Mortar and Pestle

Granite Mortar and Pestle : Hand-carved of solid granite (the material preferred by top chefs), the mortar and pestle give you ultimate control in grinding and blending spices and herbs. The stone's weight enhances stability and makes pounding easier. Matte finish provides friction for efficient grinding yet won't absorb flavors and odors. The mortar exterior and pestle grip are textured for a firm, comfortable hold. 2-cup mortar, 6"Dia. Pestle: 7"-8"L (varies due to handcraftsmanship). Hand wash. Imported.

Beautiful and better September 23, 2008
shopchef from Talent,OR

"I have used other kinds and this is the one to have! I had a china one(too light) marble (too smooth)etched glass (better, but still a little too smooth) and a molcajete (too rough). I feel like Goldilocks...this one's just right. Makes pesto so much creamier than a food processor and great for spices. And it's beautiful. It's on proud display on a shelf and gets lovingly petted often."

Unbelievable Quality- Great Buy! September 22, 2008
sawainer from Clemmons, NC

"I bought this for my husband who has cooked all of his life and is very choosy about his kitchen equipment. He is so pleased, It is a beautiful piece and is plenty big enough for whatever he happens to be making at the time. The interior allows you to create the perfect grind in no time and it cleans up easily. Five star rating for sure!"

Kris11 from APO, AE (Military)

"I can't believe the quality at the price offered! It is absolutely beautiful! It is heavy, solid, easy to clean, and works exactly as advertised. Someone else mentioned how it looks like art, that's very true. I have it proudly displayed on my counter."

GREAT TOOL!! February 12, 2008
PatrickB from Washington, DC

"This mortar and pestle is great!! A must have for any serious kitchen. The granite is perfect; not as course as a molcajete but more rough than the marble used in some mortars. You can take herbs and spices from course ground to straight up pulverized in no time. Looks great on the counter too!"

Art ? October 19, 2007
Carlton from Boston, South Shore

"Is this a kitchen tool or kitchen art ? It is great for grinding spices for salad dressings. On my counter it is quite the conversation piece for my guests. I have been asked more than once if it is a sculpture."
