Lodge Logic 3-Piece Cookware Set plus Cookbook
: Everything you need for cast iron cooking, preseasoned
in the unique Logic process: 5-quart Dutch oven with
lid, 10.25" skillet, and "A Skillet Full"
cookbook of traditional Southern recipes, compiled by
the Historic Preservation Society of South Pittsburg,
Tennessee, home of the Lodge factory. The oil used to
season Lodge Logic is Kosher Certified soy-based
vegetable oil. The oil is electrostatically sprayed onto
the cookware, then baked on at high temperatures. It
would take approximately 20 home seasonings to replicate
the seasoning process used at Lodge's Tennessee
facility. The Lodge 10 1/4" skillet was rated one
of the 20 most essential tools in the kitchen (Martha
Stewart, February 2006). This cookware can be used on
the stove top, in the oven or on the campfire. The
traditional Dutch oven with wire bail has been around
for more than a century. It's perfect for camp and
hearth cooking and is a natural for countless recipes.

My grandmother always used cast iron and taught me there was no cookware better. She was correct and the pieces I have of hers, I cherish. This set is where I routinely go when sent wedding invitations. It is a great starter set for new brides that they can pass on to their grandchildren. There is no greater value than Lodge Cast Iron!

There's just something enticing about those slow cooked soups and stews in the winter and this is the Dutch oven to do it in. Nicely sized, it will hold in the heat and simmer those meals quietly on the back burner while you fry some great chicken on the front burner in this generously sized pan. Meals so comforting and delicious, these products are something all families should have to enjoy that cold weather cooking. You can simmer or braise, slow cook on the burner or in the oven while the whole house warms up with that heat and the great aromas of their favorite meals. I can't say enough good about them. Just rinse them out with some hot water and dry them well, a little oil and they're ready and waiting for the next time. Get a little something to pass along to the generations to come so they can duplicate those great foods they all love.
Pros: Easy to Clean/Wash, Value for Money, Stay-cool handle, quality, Material, easy to use, True to Color, even cooking, Heat distribution, multi-purpose, construction, size, Tight-fitting lid, Appearance/ Design /Style, Heat retention, non-stick, Performs Well, easy to store, durability, Functional/Useful, Long-lasting, Weight, capacity

Growing up my mother always used a cast-iron skillet for cooking. I finally purchased a Lodge set which included the frying pan and a Dutch oven with lid and a cookbook. It also came with washing instructions as well as how to maintain your cast-iron pots/pans to ensure it cooks properly. The recipe book has great ideas. It brings back memories of my childhood while letting me cook some fantastic food.

I think this was an excellent buy. I received the product very promptly, and it was exactly as advertised. It is quite attractive, as well. It doesn't need to be something you hide away in a cabinet. Particularly the dutch oven is pretty enough to be displayed on a counter or shelf. I'm looking forward to baking cornbread in the skillet. All in all, I'm more than satisfied with my purchase.

A real dutch oven has been on my wish list forever, and now I not only have it, but it came with a nice sized oven ready frying pan as well. The recipe book was a great surprise, and we used it right away for the best Shrimp Jambalaya and corn bread meal we've had in years. The only down side is that nit's too heavy for my wife, so now all stews and oven finished meals become my duty. Good thing I love to cook!

So nice to be able to find these products. They are old fashioned and practical and everyone needs at least these 2 pieces. Shipping was free and the packing was superior. The cookbook was a bonus and it was worth the whole price of the order. Would make a great gift to a couple getting married and help to continue a tradition of excellent foods cooked in southern traditional manner.

I grew up with cast iron at home and camping. My dad was a scout master and makes the best peach cobler in a dutch oven and a campfire. Lodge is the brand I bought for my own home. It is a solid investment and last forever. The kids just wont want to wait for my handme downs cause I'm not ready to let them go yet. Cast iron and fried chicken are a match made in heaven.

I think everyone needs to have cast iron in their cookware collection, since it does some things so much better than anything else. This set is really the easiest, most comprehensive set to give you what you need in your kitchen for the best frittatas, cornbread, and braising ever.

I have tried non-stick and always go back to the cast iron. The 10" fry and dutch oven are the basic must haves. You can pass these down to your children!

This is a great product! I never realized the awesome potential for a simple iron skillet until I used one. It's probably why my grandmother never used anything but iron. Sure, I still use my $$$ non-stick stuff, but this is the original non-stick. It's iron. There's really nothing you can do to it to hurt it. I cook with it just about every night. It does come pre-seasoned, but depending on what you're going to cook, I'd re-season it first (simple instuctions are in the great recipe book). I'd also recommend starting out with fatty foods (meats, bacon, etc). Do that the first few times and then you're all set. You'll never have to season it again with the proper care. And it's clean after just some hot water and elbow grease!
