This grinder is well-made and handsome. The grinding mechanism is simple and made of metal parts. The mill is made to last, and it can grind a good amount of pepper with very little effort - great for chefs.

These pepper mills are really beautiful and well made. They are very heavy and of good quality. I love them so much that I bought two, one for pepper and one for sea salt.

I bought one of these for my home a while back. Needless to say it's been a hit around our house. Really need 2 for the home, one for the stove and one for the table. This time I bought two as gifts for our kids homes. These things are well made and built to last. Something that is hard to find today. My original came pre-adjusted for a perfect grind. Many a peppercorn has met its demise through ours and now through these... Great buy!

The grind is consistent and, unlike other grinders, does not change as you grind. There is no dust created all the way from fine to cracked settings. Easy to fill and set up.

Ever since the 'Frugal Gourmet' introduced audiences to this Greek-Turkish designed and manufactured mill it has been a favorite of mine. The conical metal grinding burrs work reliably and they can be adjusted to either a fine grind or various degrees of coarse or cracked peppercorns. I now own three of them--one for kitchen, one for table service and one that 'floats' from kitchen to table because I use it to grind a more complex four-peppercorn mix, either to season a cooking product or to 'finish' at the table to individual taste.
Over many years of dedicated cooking, I started with 'cheap' mills with nylon gears and clear 'plastic' housing (didn't last; didn't do much of a job) to beautiful Peugeot wooden mills (didn't reliably feed larger peppercorns) to Atlas models that feed freely and grind wonderfully.
I own two types of Atlas mill: one that has a lower cannister to collect ground pepper (originally to collect ground coffee for 'Turkish' coffee) and my latest chrome plated mill that grinds directly onto a food product. The brass mills I own need ocasional polishing but my new mill is virtually maintenance free. The various metal choices for these mills are not only useful for decorative preferences, they help to distinguish different blends of peppercorns or to identify other grindable spice contents. Maybe I will get a copper one for grinding allspice next!
In the kitchen, I'm never without: imagination
Favorite Brand: whatever does the best job

This is the greatest pepper mill I have ever used. I worked six years for an elderly man that has this pepper mill. I am sure that his wife had it for several years before I ever came on board. It holds lots of the pepper corns, so you do not have to fill it often. It is very well weighted and the copper finish is awesome.
The gentlemen has recently passed away and I am sure it will be passed down to one of his children and used for many more years. I loved it so much, it was the only thing I put on my Christmas list. Low and behold it appeared under the tree. I filled it right away and it is sitting on my counter where it has already got several compliments from family and friends. I will cherish it forever and will pass it down in my family.

This peppermill definately looks better in the picture than it is. For the price, it's lacking in quality. The top does not fit on well, it's very loose. It looks ok, but as soon as you pick it up it feels cheep.

Jammed Right Out of the Box!

I was looking for a really nice pepper mill that would last a long time, so I ordered this one even though it is a bit pricey. I expected an excellent product. Instead, on my first attempted use it jammed and was extremely difficult to un-jam. Also, it is not adjustable as described. This one is going back ASAP.

I had been eyeing this peppermill for some time. I am happy to report it is easy to assemble and works well. And it is hands down, the most beautiful pepermill I have ever owned.
I've given it as a gift before, and it's been well received. But now it's mine!
Love it!

First,it is absolutely beautiful - to look at and to use. It was amazingly simple to put together and understand the directions. I purchased the copper color and it looks outstanding on the counter as well as the table. It functions easily at any of the grating levels,so you can be very picky about the size of the pepper sprinkles.

Favorite Pepper mill

We were looking to retire our old wooden pepper mill but nothing caught our fancy until finding the Atlas Pepper Mill. We wanted something to provide a consistent easy grind, easy and large fill capacity, and which would always look clean and shiny, even after sticky fingers handled it. This mill passed on all points and looks great in our kitchen. We're very pleased with the purchase.

I purchased the brass grinder and love it. It functions well - very easy to grind. The brass one looks even better than shown, is a nice heavy weight and is beautiful on the table. Will order more as gifts.

Worst Pepper Mill Ever

Not long after I bought this product it became very difficult to turn the handle. It beame difficult to adjust from coarse to fine and back again. After about one year it stopped working completely. I took it apart and several steel shaving fell out with the pepper corns. I still cant get it to turn so I'm sending it back. It is worthless.

Ultra fine to fine grounds only.

I like freshly grinding my own pepper because, it allows me the freedom of choosing the coarseness of the grains. But, this grinder's impressive control mechanism allows only for ultra fine to fine. Very disappointing. Also, the color of the brass lid does not exactly match the shaft.

We have gone through so many pepper mills over the years, both expensive and inexpensive. Finally we found one that works well, is adjustable, and has metal parts that will not wear out. A good buy for the money and the last pepper mill you will ever need to buy. Plus it looks great on your table.

I bought this 4 years ago and still am so pleased to use it all of the time. It is gorgeous on my table, and it grinds so beautifully. The copper has not tarnished at all, and the grinding mechanism is as good as when I first received it. This mill is truly the best on the market.
