Wusthof Classic Hollow-Ground Santoku : Similar to a butcher knife, the Japanese-style santoku knife is a multipurpose gem for slicing, cubing, or dicing. Available in 5" or 7", the distinctive hollow-ground edge that alternates scallops on both sides of the blade, and yields a smooth, clean cut. About Wusthof Classic: Precision-forged blades of Wusthof's own high-carbon, stain-resistant steel alloy, for a lasting edge that is easy to resharpen. Distinctive bolster prevents your hand from slipping onto the blade. Handle is a virtually indestructible composite, buffed by hand for a smooth finish and triple-riveted to the full tang for optimum strength and balance. Dishwasher safe, but hand-washing is recommended. Made in Solingen, Germany.

I've bought two of these and this is a great knive for the price. This is my everyday knife. It can be used for meat or vegetables. It is easily resharpened and stays sharp for a good period of time. I even put it in the dishwasher which is not generally recommended for quality knives such as this.

This is, by far, the best knife I've ever owned. I first bought the 7" knife and was so pleased with it that I bought the 5" one. I then ordered one of each for both my son and daughter. I've since found that my favorite of the two is the 5" size. It's the knife I reach for when I want to chop vegetables or slice roasts and turkey. I highly recommend it!!!

I bought the 7" knife for my spouse for Christmas. He uses it for every cutting application. It cuts everything like slicing butter, even a christmas ham. I will never buy any other knife except Wusthof again.

I have a friend who loves to entertain but does not cook. Whe she hots a party I do the cooking at her house, and since her knives are substandard I have been hauling my knives to her house for years. So for Christmas this year, Santa brought my friend this wonderful set of Santoku knives. She loves them and so do I, and my knives get to stay home in my kitchen! Now if only I can teach her how to properly care for these babies....

It allows me to prep ingredients like a Professional Chef--my knife skills aren't as fast as a Pro but these knives have revolutionized my life in the kitchen. I gave my mom this knife for christmas and have heard nothing but raves since. In fact, she and my dad constantly fight over who uses it. Now I know why; I was recently given this knife and it has become my absolute favorite. It cuts so clean and easily - even tomatoes! Chopping ingrediants has gone from a chore to a pleasure. It feels perfectly balanced in my hand and always slices easily through whatever I am cutting. I have the smaller pairing knife too and it's an equal delight. My next set of knives will definately be Wusthof.

I am a Pro chef and this is my most used knife at work and at home. It is easy to clean, has a well balanced shape for less fatigue on the hand and wrist, and the hollow ground edge lets one slice and chop without as much food sticking to the blade. (Especially good for raw potatoes) This knife and my serrated slicer are my favorites with my Classic 10" Chef's knife a close second. This knife will not disappoint.

Because I already have two 7" chef's knives, I purchased the 5". I've used it for everything from chopping veggies to slicing meat very thin. The compact size is really nice and it is super sharp.

I love this knife. It cuts through veggies so easily and so precise. It is very easy to use and it is very light so that my wrist isn't tired after cutting a lot of vegetables. The price was right also.

This knife is wonderful for cutting vegetables. It does all the work! It effortlessly cuts through tomatoes, onions, peppers, even brussel sprouts.

This knife is by far the sharpest knife I have ever used. We have other high quality knives and this one cuts effortlessly, even through something as challenging as a pineapple.
On softer vegies, you basically just have to lay the knife on the surface and it is cut through.
