I've never had a pot that simmered like this one simmers. And because it maintains it's temperature longer, I can cook at a lower heat. It sautes chopped vegetables for soup or whatever without browning them, something it is difficult to do in my other pots. I also bought a bottle of the Le Creuset cleaner, and have found it to be needed and easy to use, with great results. This pot is a handsome red addition to the pantry shelf.
Pros: even cooking, Heat distribution, construction, Performs Well, durability, capacity, Easy to Clean/Wash, Heat retention, Appearance/ Design /Style, Long-lasting

This is my first dutch oven and I absolutely love it! I've been running across a lot of recipes lately that call for cooking the recipe in a dutch oven so I thought I would give it a try by purchasing one. I'm now finding that I use it for everything - I don't know how I've gone so long without have a dutch oven in my kitchen! This dutch oven is so durable and will be something that I can pass down to my daughter and will be in the family for generations to come.

It is just gorgeous to behold! But best of all, it is great to cook with. Once you have a recipe to temperature, you can REALLY reduce the heat to maintain that temp - saving lots in energy costs. An excellent investment!

Increase flavor, Reduce work

I've had this for 12 years, and my husband has a Pavlovian response to seeing it - he literally starts salivating! The stews, soups and roasts made in this pot have incredibly deep and complex flavor. It travels seamlessly from stove top to oven, so it's great for recipes that start with searing, then proceed to simmering - I even make soup in the oven.
I also use it for roasting local free range meat (i.e. very little fat) chicken, lamb, pork, veal and venison - it keeps the flavors trapped inside for maximum flavor, and keeps meat moist without extra oil or basting.
Everything in one pot means a lot fewer dishes to wash! I've used this a lot in 12 years and it has held up just beautifully.
If you think it's too big, get rid of one of your stock pots - this does the job, probably better.
It is heavy, but it has to be to do the jobs I give it.

The Le Creuset 9- Quart French Oven does it all. I especially love it for large gumbos. Makes a wonderful roux, and keeps steady even temperature. Great for braising, roasting. The cleanup is quick and easy. I highly recommend this to all cooks. Will be a family heirloom.

There's not much that I can't do with this round oven! Cooking, simmering, braising, baking- no task is too tall. Stews being some of the family favorites, this piece has seen its fair share of stovetop time, and I have yet to find a flaw. If you're looking for a dependable piece of versatile cookware, I promise you- you can't go wrong with it!

The Le Creuset round french oven is the best peice of cookware that I have for making stews, tomato sauce, soups and cooking large roasts that require a combination of stove top preparation and oven finishing. The pot is heavy but retains the heat evenly on the stove top. I have never had anything burn while leaving the sauces, soups, simmer on the stove top throughout the night. Everytime I use this pot, I tell myself that I should have spent the money long ago. It has been a wonderful addition to my cookware.
Pros: retains heat well, uniform cooking
Cons: heavy

I AM IN LOVE

If you can catch a sale, BUY this. Yes, it is pricey, but so worth the money. I bought mine about 3 years ago, use it all the time to braise, roast, stew, steam, make stocks. The heavy lid seals in all the yummy flavor and healthy juices. The light interior allows you to actually see the color richness of stock you are reducing, as well as the true color of whatever recipe you are serving up. Mine is out on display when it is not in the dishwasher. It never gets dusty, that's how often I use it. A true oven to table to fridge all-purpose pot. Every time I have chili (or whatever) simmering on the stove, someone always comments on what a nice pot this is, triggering me to wax poetic about my Le Creuset. This was the best purchase I ever made. If you have to choose one size, 7 1/4 Qt. is my recommendation. I have a smaller oval pot, but I like the larger round one so much better.
Pros: heavy duty, dishwasher safe, oven safe, stovetop cooking, beautiful enamel exterior looks new after 3 years, use the same pot to brown and roast, holds a steady even temperature, versatile size, perfect fit on my large ceramic cooktop burner., low profile slides onto the middle oven rack
Cons: the bottom discolors from browning food, price

I love my new dutch oven, it works exactly as advertised. If I could do it over again I might have gone for the 7.25-qt model instead of the 9-qt because I cook for myself a lot more often than for 5-10 people but it still gets the job done.
Pros: heats evenly, easy to clean
Cons: slightly too big for small cooking jobs

This pot is excellent at retaining heat and holds just the right amount for a double batch of chili. The interior ceramic has browned with use but it still has it's non-stick qualities. It's easy to clean up, although it's quite heavy. If I could wish for anything it would be to have a glass lid so I could see the progress of my dishes.

Best Dutch Oven

Yes it's a little pricey and a little heavy but it's eye-catchingly beautiful and the best cast iron dutch oven you will find on the market today. Le Creuset makes the best quality cast iron cookware available today. This french is extremely versatile and perfect for anything which requires long slow cooking either on the stovetop or in the oven. An iron pot takes longer to heat up than say stainless steel or aluminum but it holds heat longer than either. It cooks everything so perfectly pot roast, soup, stew, pasta sauces, chili, gumbo, braising, slow-cooking, etc and it is incredibly easy to clean without scubbing by soaking overnight in hot, soapy water. And best of all it will outlast almost all of your other cookware. If you are debating whether you should buy a Le Creuset French Oven, stop debating and just buy it, and I guarantee you will not regret it.

First Le Creuset Purchase

This is my first Le Cresuset purchase. I kick myself for not purchasing one sooner. My chilis, stews, and soups are much easier to make with this dutch oven. Cleanup is a breeze. The 9 quart is the right size for large family batches of chilis, stews, and soups. I thought it was going to be too heavy to lift and move all the time, but I was wrong. This is allowing me to branch out to other dishes for a dutch oven application. I can't wait to purchase my next Le Creuset.

Received this as a gift for making Thanksgiving dinner. It is heavy, however, the product is first class. Bringing my mashed pototoes to the table using this as the serving dish was a big hit. I was the envy of every cook at the table. Now all I need to do is determine the difference between the French Oven and a Dutch Oven. This was my first piece of Le Creuset. However, it will not be my last.
