Best Dutch Oven
March 7, 2008 siriuscheffrom New York, NY
"Yes it's a little pricey and a little heavy but it's eye-catchingly beautiful and the best cast iron dutch oven you will find on the market today. Le Creuset makes the best quality cast iron cookware available today. This french is extremely versatile and perfect for anything which requires long slow cooking either on the stovetop or in the oven. An iron pot takes longer to heat up than say stainless steel or aluminum but it holds heat longer than either. It cooks everything so perfectly pot roast, soup, stew, pasta sauces, chili, gumbo, braising, slow-cooking, etc and it is incredibly easy to clean without scubbing by soaking overnight in hot, soapy water. And best of all it will outlast almost all of your other cookware. If you are debating whether you should buy a Le Creuset French Oven, stop debating and just buy it, and I guarantee you will not regret it."

My favorite
September 22, 2008 MarvinaPfrom Colorado Springs
"This pot is excellent at retaining heat and holds just the right amount for a double batch of chili. The interior ceramic has browned with use but it still has it's non-stick qualities. It's easy to clean up, although it's quite heavy. If I could wish for anything it would be to have a glass lid so I could see the progress of my dishes."

First Le Creuset Purchase
December 1, 2007 HeadCheffrom Pearland, TX
"This is my first Le Cresuset purchase. I kick myself for not purchasing one sooner. My chilis, stews, and soups are much easier to make with this dutch oven. Cleanup is a breeze. The 9 quart is the right size for large family batches of chilis, stews, and soups. I thought it was going to be too heavy to lift and move all the time, but I was wrong. This is allowing me to branch out to other dishes for a dutch oven application. I can't wait to purchase my next Le Creuset."

Best Oven Ever
December 1, 2007 Ronellefrom Indianapolis, IN
"Received this as a gift for making Thanksgiving dinner. It is heavy, however, the product is first class. Bringing my mashed pototoes to the table using this as the serving dish was a big hit. I was the envy of every cook at the table. Now all I need to do is determine the difference between the French Oven and a Dutch Oven. This was my first piece of Le Creuset. However, it will not be my last."

Excellent pot
November 30, 2007 Dogbertfrom Vermont
"I bought this French Oven for my mother for her birthday. This is the best pot for just about everything. She has used it for soups, stews and roasting. She just loves it. It provides even heat cooking and keeps meats from drying out with the heavy lid that it comes with. If you enjoy cooking good food you really need this dandy little oven."

Best Purchase
November 12, 2007 QuilterKatfrom Arlington, TX
"This 9 qt. french oven is the best size for making soups and especially chili. I love being able to brown my meat for the chili then adding my spices and then the beans. I only have one container to clean. I leave this pot on the cook top all the time so I can use it whenever I need to. Very versatile and a life time investment that is well worth the money."

Inspired to buy more!
October 25, 2007 Foxiefrom Chatsworth, CA
"The Le Creuset french oven was my inspiration to purchase more Le Creuset products. It holds on to heat really well so it sautes vegetables and browns chicken, beek, or pork beautifully. The heat is sustained by medium high heat, not high heat, so the food will not burn. The even heating of the pot cooks the food at a steady temperature so it's great for simmering soups and stews. Le Creuset's styling of their products are like "eye candy" and makes cooking more enjoyable. I like the idea that I can use my Le Creuset grill pan (yes, I bought a grill pan too) to grill hamburgers over the stove (love those charred grilled lines) then broil it in the oven to melt the cheese over the top and serve it in the same pan. It's great for grilling salmon too! I don't know why I didn't think to purchase this product sooner. I'm planning to ask Santa for a Le Creuset frying pan for Christmas! :)"

This pot is a must!
October 19, 2007 medicifrom New Jersey
"I love this pot for many reasons. First, I have a large family and I need a pot that will allow me to make large quantities of food. I also like the way the French oven looks, so I take it to many potlucks ! But the main reason I like this pot is because it retains heat very well. I have a top of the line set of stainless steel cookware, but when I try to sear large quantities of meat, the temperature of the pan drops , and I end up steaming the meat in it's own juices. With my French oven, I always get a great color on my meat, and more color means more flavor! The only negative comment I have is that the pot may be too heavy for some. My mother complains when she has to lift it to the stove, but once it's on there, she really enjoys cooking with it!"
