I returned because even though it says it holds 4.5 quarts, it does not hold quite 4 quarts. I exchanged for a 5.5 quart
Love Le Creuset products.

Must have product

This is the perfect sized pot to have! If you only can buy one Le Creuset this is the one to get. It is perfect for roasts, soups, gumbo, and hot cider. I bought the red and I love it. I have the larger 5 1/4 French Oven, but it is overkill for most things. Le Creuset heats evenly, and retains heat well. It really takes some serious effort to actually burn anything with these pots. And they clean up with minimal effort. If you are just not sure, I have to say this will be the best decision you ever make. No kitchen should be without this pot.
Pros: Easy to Clean/Wash, Variety of Colors, even cooking, Heat distribution, construction, Heat retention, Appearance/ Design /Style, durability, Long-lasting, capacity
Cons: weight

Though this pot is very heavy, I will not hesitate to buy another. The superior heat retention properties are the best I have ever encountered.
I hesitated to move from earlier versions that were non-stick to enamel, but have not regretted doing so.
Pros: Easy to Clean/Wash, Value for Money, Stay-cool handle, Variety of Colors, Warranty, easy to use, True to Color, even cooking, Heat distribution, construction, Tight-fitting lid, Appearance/ Design /Style, Heat retention, easy to store, durability, Functional/Useful, capacity, love the available colors

Great Pot

This is a really great pot in a great size. I have both the 3.5 quart and the 5.5 quart le creuset french ovens, but decided to purchase this one since the 4.5 quart is often difficult to find. It's really the perfect size for stews and soups. I often find that the 3.5 is a little too small, and the 5.5 is a little too big, so this is the pefect compromise. Also, the color is great--a nice deep eggplant color!

Review 10 for Le Creuset 4 1/2-Quart Round French Oven
Wonderful addition to any kitchen, great size for casseroles or roasting a whole chicken to juicy perfection. Easy to clean - fill with warm, soapy water, leave for an hour or so and everything wipes right off. I prefer the round shape over the oval because it fits better on an electric stovetop ring. Much better quality than other cast iron brands. Heavy, but less so than the larger sizes - easily manageable even for a weakling like me. And you can't beat the guarantee!
Pros: Appearance/ Design /Style, capacity, construction, durability, Easy to Clean/Wash, easy to store, easy to use, even cooking, Functional/Useful, Heat distribution, Heat retention, Long-lasting, Material, multi-purpose, non-stick, Performs Well, quality, size, Tight-fitting lid, True to Color, Variety of Colors, Warranty
Cons: Expensive/ Price, not cheap - but worth it

Best Duch Oven Ever

Yes it's a little pricey and a little heavy but it's eye-catchingly beautiful and the best cast iron dutch oven you will find on the market today. Le Creuset makes the best quality cast iron cookware available today. This french is extremely versatile and perfect for anything which requires long slow cooking either on the stovetop or in the oven. An iron pot takes longer to heat up than say stainless steel or aluminum but it holds heat longer than either. It cooks everything so perfectly pot roast, soup, stew, pasta sauces, chili, gumbo, braising, slow-cooking, etc and it is incredibly easy to clean without scubbing by soaking overnight in hot, soapy water. And best of all it will outlast almost all of your other cookware. If you are debating whether you should buy a Le Creuset French Oven, stop debating and just buy it, and I guarantee you will not regret it.

I love all my Le Creuset items. It perfectly conducts the heat evenly for great results. This size is perfect for a pot of soup or stew. Even though it is not non-stick, it is a breeze to clean with soap and water. The only downside to this pot is the weight, it is a bit heavy.
