I have the two-in-one and the 2.75 oval oven with cover and love both. This is an addition to a collection I already adore. I just cooked Julia Child's bouef bourguinon in it the other night and everything turned out perfectly. The heavy, enameled cast iron did wonders to retain the heat on stove top then in the oven. The beef was tender and the flavor was deep. It is a good size for a small NYC apartment as well.

I finally treated myself to this French Oven, and I can't imagine what took me so long. Following the manufacturer's tip that less heat is required, I've made perfect Coq au Vin and thick-cut pork loin chops. This pot is so much better than another similar pot that I'm doubly happy I spent the money for the real thing. I don't know if it's the pot's thickness, the extra layers of enameling, the way the lid fits or just the psychological boost from the sheer beauty of the color I chose, but I can't wait to cook with more items from this line. Thanks Chef's Catalog for the slightly discounted price and free shipping!

I love my new dutch oven in cherry red. LeCreuset remains the pinnacle of high standards in enamel cookware. I have baked a cassoulet, made soup, and sauce already. Can't use it enough!

This was the most amazing gift I could have recieved. I have seen the cooks on Food Network using it and had to have it. It is much better than I thought. Even heat distribution helps to cook foods evenly. I use it whenever I make anything that calls for a dutch oven.
Clean up is a breeze.
I made the best beef stew and chili in this pot. It is truly an heirloom that I will also be handing down to one of my daughters.

This is the best french oven for making soups

I have had the Le Creuset oval french oven for years but when it came to making soups or stews it was not condusive due to it's shape. I have multiple other dutch ovens but I missed the even way things cooked in a Le Creuset product. I ordered this 5.5 Qt. oven from Chef's and have very pleased. It cooks beautifully, heats evenly and cleans up with ease. The only negative is it is a bit heavy. I went into a neighborhood gourmet deli the other day and saw they used the same product to make their soups.

I was given a set of Flame Le Creuset as a wedding present in 1968, and I still use it daily. I wanted to replace a few pieces and started with the 5.5-Qt. French Oven. I use this for almost everything: pot roasts, spaghetti sauce, roast chicken, soup. It is very versatile as well as attractive. I chose cassis because it is a subdued color and gives a soothing feeling to my kitchen. I plan to purchase many more pieces in the same color, and I have a list. My only disappointment is that the 6-in frypan is not made in the cassis color. That little frypan is a hard worker!

Love my french oven. The color is bold and beautiful. Cleans up easy, and I feel my food cooks more evenly in it. Not too heavy even with a big pot of stew in it. I have wanted this for years and my kids bought it for me for my birthday last month. I see it used on tv frequently and I feel so honored to have this.

Great Pot, Odd Color

Cooking with Le Creuset cookware is remarkable! They're just great, a view I have developed from using the pans of my friends.
I have waited a long time to buy my own because I hoped the
company would produce a wonderful spring green. When I received the paper catalog I thought they had done it. Wrong! The color on the catalog and that on the pan are not the same. So, although I ordered two pieces, I returned them because the green was just not as pictured. So, after waiting years, I gave up and ordered the cobalt blue!

This is my first piece of le creuset. I checked all the alternative brands and decided to go with the saying... you get what you pay for.... and I was not disappointed! The 5.5 quart pot is a great size to start with and is versatile too. I've done recipes that start on the stove, go to the oven, then back on the stove... and I've even done a fish fry and hush puppies... it works great for frying... and keeps the oil temp consistent...no smoking of oil. I'm looking for more recipes just to use my pot now... I love it!

I am happy to have just bought my first piece of LeCreuset cookware. I'm so looking forward to using it as this is something I've always wanted and finally bit the bullet and treated myself. The reputation Le Creuset enjoys and the wonderful reviews are what sold me. I've started my "collection" with the 5.5-Quart Round French Oven......in the blue color. I'm expecting my next purchase from Chefs, this time a red 10" skillet in a few days. In the past I've used cast iron cookware but the ocassional seasoning that is required didn't seem worth the bother. Now I'll have the best of both worlds.......cast iron for even cooking and enamel for easy clean-up and beauty.

This is an awesome size French Oven. We use it for almost everything dinner related. It pretty much replaces the need for a slow-cooker or Crock-Pot. Whether we are cooking chicken or Braising Beef or making Mac & Cheese or Goulash, it is so nice to be able to put it in the oven and at the end remove the lid to finish off crusting the top of the dish. It retains heat like nothing we have ever had before. It is wonderful.
