I have several pieces of LeCreuset cookware. Three are the cast iron like this one. It is the best for making stews or roasting. I use my 3qt braiser all the time. I roasted chicken in this 6.75qt the other evening. It performs perfectly. I also have several pieces of the LeCreuset stoneware.
I highly recommend LeCreuset. High quality and worth the price!

Perfection

After 20 years this Dutch oven, in a delicious dark brown color, is still going strong. There are no chips in the enamel, the interior surface is still very presentable; and the exterior enamel is minimally stained by cooked-on spills. (They could be cleaned off- I am working on this). It is the perfect size for all braises, roasting a duck or a large chicken, a bouillebaisse, or a cassoulet. The straight sides give you a large bottom surface for the initial browning of meats. The lid is heavy and seals in the contents well. I easily replaced a broken lid handle once; and of course the whole pot has a lifetime guarantee- any time- no receipt required.
The design is simple and authentic- I have never tired of it.

What a great casserole. I had resisted spouses attempts to buy one related to high price, finally gave in. It is indeed worth the money. Now believe "don't turn burner above medium"....things cook much quicker and at much lower temps. Have it in Kiwi/ cheerful lime green and decided not to store it in cupboard............sits on stove and is so bright to look at.

The quality of finish and enamel on the Le Creuset cookware are worth the premium price compared to discount store look a likes. Good and heavy for slow, oven braising or roasting in casserole. Cleans well with a nylon scrubby and squirt of detergent. I expect to hand down to my grand children. Mine is 10 years old and still looks great.

Before slow cookers this is how my grandma cooked with a large cast iron. I love this size. I can fit a whole chicken with vegies in this and slowwly roast it to a lovely brown. Then the cast iron stays warm for hours, so if tonight is a every eats at different hours, then fine. The meal will be warm.
The pot is lovely enough to put right on the dinner table and the cast iron keeps it warm for a long time on the table.
Highly recommend this brand. I also recommend having one this size. It is a great size for spaghetti sauce and chili.

I've had this french oven for over 30 years and its the BEST... I don't use it every night, but its the perfect size for big items and entertaining, etc. It heats evenly and is easy to clean. Only problem for some might be its weight- very heavy- buy hey, that's because its such fabulous quality! Worth every penny, I think. Just bought one for my daughter (I don't want to loan mine).

I have now purchased four Le Creuset pieces because I love the way that meat and vegetables braise and roast. Also, my husband loves the fact that they clean so easily despite the varied items I have cooked in them. Last, they are so attractive, you can just cook and serve. Oh, I almost forgot - I also love the fact that the lid has a heat resistant knob.

This is the best dutch dutch(french) oven.
It is an expensive price, but this is a great deal, and in my opinion it is worth every penny.
The food was much better. ( When i made old recipes in it there was a big difference)
It was easy to clean.
My only complaint is that I don't have more!

I had never tried cooking with a cast iron pot until I purchased my Le Creuset Oval French oven. I was thrilled when used it. It seers meat evenly, maintains heat, and the size allows you to cook any size recipe. It cleans up very easy. I keep it on my stove top at all times because I use it so often. It is also a very nice looking pot. Great product !

You will be amazed at the performance of this cookware and how good your dishes turn out when you use it. I've used it to make a variety of chicken and beef dishes and they were more moist and evenly cooked than ever before. Goes from the stovetop where you've browned meats to the oven for slow cooking and then to the table top as a lovely serving dish. LOVE IT!

I figured somewhere along the line I would run into a piece of Le Creuset cookware that I might be less than thrilled with, but, once again, I'm (ecstatically) not disappointed!!! As with all Le Creuset pieces, the vivid color(s) add just the right touch to a stove or tabletop. The cooking versatility (braising, searing, slow-cooking, etc.) of this french oven makes it one of the favorites in the kitchen!

Outstanding All-Purpose Cooking Pot

I've had this French Oven since last Christmas, have used it many times, and I'm still amazed that it still looks brand new and continues to perform flawlessly. I braise, simmer, sear and do just about any other type of cooking in it. Last week I made my first pot of chilli with it and it came out fantastic. I browned the meat, cooked the vegetables and simmered the chilli for 4 hours, all in this same French Oven. I highly recommend this product.
Pros: highly versatile, cooks evenly, cleans like new every time

This is one of my favorite, can't do without pieces of cookware! Roasts and other meats come out of the oven so juicy and tender. The heavy structure of the pan seems to allow more even cooking and it's really easy to clean up, like having nonstick without the chemicals. It's great for cooking stews and soups on top of the stove too. One thing I love is I can get whatever I'm cooking started on top of the stove and then put it in the oven. Yesterday I started a chicken stew when I was home for lunch, then put it in the oven on 275 and slow-cooked it until supper, and my family raved! It was so much better than when I've cooked it in my crock pot.

The oval French oven cooks any braised dish perfec tly with depth of flavor that I have not experienced with other dutch ovens. It is easy to clean and can go to the table because of its striking good looks. The ability to carmalize and sear meats and vegetables can not be beat. This is a fantastic and necessary addition to any kitchen.
