"My Italian mother taught me a lot of things in the kitchen about food and life, but she didn't have this tool. It is just the best kitchen assistant, other than Mom, that you'll ever have. It's cleanly sharp, and the concave board makes quick work of any herb, nut, or small ingredient. These make wonderful gifts for all the Foodies on your list."

More hassle than help

"The idea of the mezzaluna appealed to me, but I didn't find it practical. I already chop herbs, garlic, nuts, etc. very fast and I found the mezzaluna to be ungainly and messy. Instead of keeping everything close to the board, I felt that I had less control. Also, the board is now stained green after the first use as the wood absorbed the chlorophyl and no amount of scrubbing could get it out. If you are looking to speed up a slow chopping hand, then perhaps this would work for you."

Finally one that works!

"I have had various kitchen implements and an assortment of bowls for chopping, but the Mezzaluna is tops. Not only are the blades sharp but the bowl provides easy access while keeping the chopped pieces from flying about the room. Don't know what I did before I found it! I think every cook should have one."
