Back to Basics Toaster Plus! October 19, 2007
Foodie from Asheville, NC

"I have not used a "toaster" for twenty years having discovered the versatility of the toaster oven. After all, you can toast and broil, I thought. But the toast was never quite right. English muffins got toasted on both sides, one usually burnt. Bagels were okay but when frozen, I'd defrost in microwave and then put in toaster oven only to end up with a too chewy (dry from microwave) or inconsistently toasted top. After using a friend's great toaster on a weekend away, I decided it was time to go back to basics with a new toaster. I looked at all the models and settled on the KitchenAid Four-Slice Toaster. I must admit it took a bit of personal pushing for me to spend 80 bucks on a toaster but what the heck. . . I got free shipping! Several months later I couldn't be happier. I tossed the toaster oven and use my oven's broiler for the very rare time I need a broiler (reheating pizza). The toaster is fantastic. Pop in a frozen bagel, push the right buttons, and out comes a perfect bagel. Super easy clean up by pulling out bottom tray to discard crumbs. The slots are extra wide to accommodate fat bagels or waffles or thick bread. The "warm" feature is very useful as my husband has a habit of toasting the bread before he makes the eggs. Now instead of complaining about cold toast, I just push it down again on the warm cycle.
All in all, great toaster and great delivery."

Must Have October 20, 2007
Dooley from Kerrville, Texas

"For pumpernickle, rye, or old fashioned loaves,
this toasters the best, it got rid of my woes.
A slot that's too small for my old fashioned bread,
that's all I could find, it gave pains to my head.
Along comes this beauty, so sleek and so fine,
This Kitchen-aid toaster, I want to call mine."
